Egmere Cottage Egmere
Sleeps 6, from £510 to £1015 per week
Egmere Cottage was a traditional Norfolk farm cottage and previously owned by the Holkham estate. The current owners have extended and completely renovated the cottage with great care and attention to detail, resulting in a beautifully presented contemporary holiday cottage. Downstairs there's a lovely sitting room with wood-burning stove, an extremely well-equipped fitted kitchen with a conservatory providing a light and spacious dining area, overlooking the private garden. Upstairs are 2 comfortable double bedrooms (one with an en-suite bathroom) and a cleverly designed children's room. Outside there is a decked area with garden furniture and a barbecue, which catches the sun throughout the day, as well as a large enclosed grassy garden. It is located in a rural hamlet, just over a mile from the renowned Walsingham Farm Shop and the Norfolk Riddle restaurant. The coastal seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea is only 5 minutes drive away, with Holkham 10 minutes away and Burnham Market within 15 minutes.

Egmere Cottage is a good size nice and cosy - loved the wood burner. We enjoyed our stay and felt that the property had been well equipped and had a home from home feeling
The Rosier Family - 02/10/2020
Egmere Cottage was better than expected. It was fully equipped, with deck in garden was a suntrap and it's a very secure garden for dog, 10 out of 10. We also liked the conservatory too!
Hankin Party - 03/06/2019
Absolutely fantastic holiday overall - Very comfortable and 10 out of 10 for cleanliness and the garden.
Mr Davies - 26/05/2019
We liked the level of prettiness, neatness and thoughtfulness as most of Sowerbys cottages that I've stayed in 10 out of 10 for the cleanliness and garden Even though it's November I liked the garden and conservatory and proximity to the fields. The pillows were squeaky and the duvet too, maybe old feathers! We would stay again

Thank you for a great stay in your lovely cottage. It is such a lovely house in a great location. We loved using your games for a games night and the garden for an Easter Egg Hunt!

This has been our second stay here at Egmere and we've enjoyed it just as much as the first. Despite the weather, there has been a lovely relaxing atmosphere and it's given us the long week of rest and recuperation we all needed! Thank you so much Egmere Cottage!!

Really lovely, well equipped cottage, thank you to the cleaner - it was spotless! I would love to say it was a home from home but I can't - this is much nicer than my home! I'm going home to redecorate and build a conservatory!!

A beautiful cottage, wish we could have stayed for a week but had a wonderful few days and will be back for a week next year. Well equipped, great location and well finished. This is by far the best cottage we've ever stayed in, many thanks.

Egmere
Location
Egmere is a rural hamlet approximately 4 miles from Wells-next-the-Sea, which is a delightful unspoilt historic town on the North Norfolk Coast with a jumble of old buildings and lanes still existing from its heritage as a port and former maltings industry. The picturesque quay and waterfront is still very much a working port with fishing boats still berthed in this small harbour and stalls selling locally caught shrimps, crabs and whelks. A popular place with sailors with many sailing and leisure craft here and local sailing tuition available. Children enjoy the facilities round the quay and the challenge of crabbing (gillying) from the steep harbour wall.
The main shopping area of Wells is Staithe Street, a narrow, mostly pedestrianised lane with surviving Victorian and Edwardian shop fronts, that runs from the waters edge right up to the top part of town. In the centre of the town is The Buttlands which is a large rectangular green lined with Georgian and late Victorian houses, which used to be used for archery practise in medieval days. Now it is home to the excellent Crown hotel and restaurant which is run by Kiwi celebrity chef Chris Coubrough, as well as The Globe Inn owned by the Holkham estate.
The sandy beach flanked by pine forest is about a mile from the quay and can be reached by road, on foot along the causeway or via the miniature railway.
Holkham Hall with its impressive 18th century Palladian architecture and 3,000 acre deer park is only a couple of miles away along the coast road.If you would like to see more of our holiday homes in and around the Norfolk coastal town of Egmere, please click here.
