The House on the Green is an exceptional Grade II listed Georgian house situated in a prime position on Burnham Market's village green, luxuriously furnished and re-decorated throughout by its new owner. Its imaginative design and tasteful furnishings make it, in our opinion, one of the finest holiday houses available in Burnham Market. Downstairs there is a superb open plan kitchen, dining and sitting area which opens onto the attractive south facing walled terraced garden. The first floor has a gorgeous master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a lovely twin bedroom and shower room, with a delightful loft conversion providing a second floor twin bedroom. A perfect place to stay only steps away from the excellent selection of local shops, boutiques and galleries and the delicious food & drink from Number 29, Socius and The Hoste.

Village

Possibly one of the prettiest villages in North Norfolk, this Georgian village is within easy access to the North Norfolk Coast, still with a quaint feel, with many trendy shops. The village retains a ‘step back in time’ feel with leafy green trees and picturesque village green. Burnham Market has a traditional post office, book shop and hardware shop as well as beautiful boutiques and lifestyle shops, from the butchers and baker to fine dining and deli’s. There’s a superb fishmonger Gurneys with locally caught seafood including Brancaster mussels and Cromer crab - be sure to try the amazing fresh fishcakes. It’s a lovely village to visit to peruse the shops or even for a bite to eat in one of the restaurants. There are a lot of eateries to choose from… The Hoste for fine dining or afternoon tea, No Twenty9, The Nelson, award-winning Socius, Burnham Tearoom, or Tilly’s Cafe, there’s something to suit every taste. There is also a children’s play park, hard tennis courts and two parish churches one at each end of the village. If in need of a little pampering why not book a treatment or two at The Hoste Beauty Spa.There is also a dog groomer so you can have the best pampered pooch in the village.

Visit

With a scenic ride to the coast, you can enjoy lazy days on the beaches of Brancaster or Wells. Alternatively pull on your walking boots and investigate diverse coastal path walks, taking in all the birds and wildlife. Leave the car behind and pop on the Coastal Hopper bus and do a tour from Wells and The Burnhams to Norfolk's west coast. Don't forget to visit Holkham which not only has a superb beach, but majestic Holkham Hall which is well worth a visit: hire a boat on the lake, hop on a bike to explore the woodlands, test your bravery on the rope course, play in the woodland play park, take in the breathtaking rooms and art in the main house or simply enjoy tea and cake in the courtyard cafe. If big houses are your thing there are many others to visit with Houghton Hall and its fantastic sculpture collection, the house and grounds of Royal Sandringham to name a few! Get on the water, there are many activities from kite and windsurfing in Hunstanton, sailing in Brancaster Staithe, seal and boat trips from Brancaster and Wells, or take a beautiful trip on The Coastal Exploration Company and learn about the wildlife, trading and smuggling in the salt marshes or along the coast.

Guest reviews

This is a lovely property with plenty of space, large clean bedrooms and an open kitchen and living space. It is well-situated in the village of Burnham Market, opposite the Hoste Arms and close to shops and restaurants. We enjoyed spending time exploring the north Norfolk coast with my family from the US (visiting beaches and villages); reliving my childhood memories growing up in the UK when I spent many summers staying in Norfolk.

The Durrell Family, 9th of August 2024

Lovely house in an amazing location. Would definitely recommend. Location is brilliant. Bed linen really soft and comfortable (on my car journey home I even bought the same ones for my house!)

The Silver's, 12th of January 2023

Brilliant location and a very nice property.

The Chadwick's , 23rd of February 2019

10 out of 10 for the cleanliness and the garden. We liked the open plan space, the location, the underfloor heating, the fire. This house is beautifully designed and decorated. It is one of the best places I have stayed and has been taken care of well. The standard of cleaning was exceptional too. We shall be returning! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Electric Vehicle charging

Cars may only be charged if there is an EV charging point fitted at the property. The cost of electricity is NOT included in the rental price and Sowerbys Holiday Cottages must be notified if the charger is used and an additional surcharge will be made. Due to insurance purposes, guests must never charge their car using a standard outdoor plug or an extension cable linking to a domestic plug.
