Floorplan
Harbour/Beach
A picturesque fishing and sailing harbour with multiple winding tidal creeks and salt marshes stretching from the harbour side and leading to sand dunes: the biggest known as Gun Hill. From Burnham Overy Staithe you can take a scenic walk to Gun Hill which takes about half an hour. In the summer there is lovely wildlife to be spotted including wading birds and beautiful butterflies. A gap in the dunes, locally known as Burnham Harbour, opens up and there are miles of golden sandy beaches stretching out towards Holkham and Wells to be admired. During the summer there is a ferry out to the nature reserve of Scolt Head Island which is a lovely trip for bird watchers and seal spotters.
Village
An area of outstanding natural beauty, the village is a large hamlet and a great destination for your stay. The views across the harbour are lovely whatever time of year you decide to visit. There is a great little gastro pub in the centre of the village called The Hero (in honour of Admiral Lord Nelson) which has a great menu of tasty dishes. Also, in the centre of the village there is a large playing field with hard tennis courts and basketball area and a children’s playground. Just outside the village is the noticeable landmark of the stunning six-storey Burnham Overy Windmill and neighbouring watermill, although neither are open to the public, they stand proud on the edge of the village, a beautiful sight when the sun catches the sails against Norfolk's big blue skies. In June Burnham Overy Staithe hosts the popular Norfolk Superhero Challenge, a quadraphonic event where teams of 2 work together to swim, kayak, cycle and run across the beaches and through the creeks. A lovely charity event to spectate. To pop to one of the other coastal villages you can catch the Coasthopper Bus which runs along the coast through many of the delightful villages and seaside towns - a great green way to explore the coast and without the worry of where to park!
History
Part of Burnham Overy was the original port for The Burnhams and set on the river Burn. Trading ships once reached the village by the river until the end of the Middle Ages when the river silted up and along with it the commercial trade. Until the end of the First World War the trading ships used the Staithe. This made a distinction between the two villages Burnham Overy Town and Burnham Overy Staithe that exist a mile apart from one another today. The most notable resident of Burnham Overy Staithe is Richard Woodget who resided at one of our cottages Flagstaff East/West and was the captain of the Cutty Sark. Horatio, Admiral Lord Nelson according to letters learned to row and sail a dinghy at Burnham Overy Staithe at the age of 10 just two years before joining the Navy.
Visit
A great central location on the north Norfolk Coast right on the coastal path ideal for popping on your walking books and walking for about 30 minutes to reach the glorious wide open beach. If you are looking for family days out there are the beaches of Wells and Brancaster where you can park nearby and reach the beaches within a few steps.

We had a nice stay here and thank you for the cozy atmosphere the house brings with it. We enjoyed the garden and the warm extension part of the bungalow.
A really clean and comfortable bungalow with a lovely enclosed garden. Very suitable for guests with dogs! The location was excellent too - just a couple of minutes walk down to the creek or to The Hero for a drink or a meal. Would definitely stay here again. Lovely to be so close to the coastal path - so many walks! We used the bus to do different sections of the coast and that worked really well. As well as The Hero in the village, we also liked the Jolly Sailors at Brancaster Staithe - Monday nights for entertainment from the Nelson Shantymen!
The property has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. It is extremely well equipped. Also, there are many additional extras that make the property very comfortable. The village is well positioned to explore the North Norfolk coast by car or on foot along the coastal path. Visiting the National Trust properties at Felbrigg and Blickling were some of our highlights, together with our Sunday lunch at the Hero. The conservatory at the property was a wonderful place for spending the evenings reading.
What a gem of a find! Immaculate bungalow refurbed to an exceptional level in a beautiful location. Couldn’t fault it. Close to the sea and great location for nearby spots. Lovely little touches to make the whole stay fantastic. Will definitely be returning in the future. Immaculate accommodation. Super comfy beds. Great kitchen. Great location. Fab, fab, fab!!!
Taylor Blue is a very pleasant, stylish little bungalow with a convivial open space and plenty of storage. The conservatory is a light, cosy and comfortable place to sit and read. A walk in warm sunshine to Gun Hill . Sitting and watching the boats in the harbour.
Lovely recently renovated house in an ideal location. Very clean. We met Maggie at No. 40 who even gave us some of our home grown tomatoes. A real home from home, we will definitely stay again when next in the area. The house was situated in an ideal situation for us to visit both RSPB Titchwell and Cley Nature Reserve. Wells is only a 10 minute drive away. Had a meal at The Hero just round the corner and also No. 29 in Burnham Market both excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed our stay at Taylor Blue. The property was in very good order and we are likely going to stay at the property again.
It was everything advertised, a lovely bungalow to stay in. Thank you. The table in the garden was perfect.
Lovely bungalow, nicely decorated and well equipped. Ideally situated to visit the North Norfolk coast and just a five minute walk to the water. Easy access to many coastal areas.
We enjoyed our stay very much and will return in the future . The bungalow was extremely comfortable and clean and perfect for our two dogs to. We met the lovely neighbour from Number 40 who we chatted to a few times. :) Lovely peaceful area in a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the weather made it just perfect to ........ Thanks x
: Nice bright bungalow, south facing garden, very near the local pub The Hero which does great food. Walks from the door & Coastal bus route at end of the road by pub. Everything worked & nicely appointed. Initially thought the mattress was going to be hard but it was memory foam & very comfortable. Would definitely stay again.
