Floorplan

Village

Docking is an attractive central village only 3-4 miles inland from the North Norfolk Coast, making a great base to stay and explore the whole of North Norfolk. It's a  traditional farming Norfolk village which boasts a village shop with post office, traditional pub and a fish and chip shop too! Its located close to Burnham Market within easy access of the coast with Brancaster to the north and Hunstanton to the west. The village also has a lovely church St Mary’s, village school and a ‘must visit’ farmers market which takes place on a Wednesday morning in the ‘Ripper Hall’ village hall

History

The village has an elevated position, in the past was nick named ‘Dry Docking’ as it had no water supply other than rainwater. In the 1760’s a single well was dug for the village providing domestic use for a farthing a bucket. The water was also transported around the village by horse and cart selling the water by the bucket.

Visit

There is such ease of access to all villages and attractions with Houghton Hall to the south and Royal Sandringham Estate and House also nearby. The superb coastline with RSBP reserves and all of the areas of outstanding natural beauty are nearby to explore. There also are lots of routes from the village for cyclists and walkers.

The Grayson's, 24th of March 2025

Just returned from a great week at Tarnside. It is located on a nice small estate overlooking a pond. The property is clean and has everything you want for a perfect break! Many highlights, easy travelling to all our favourite places!

The Platts, 3rd of March 2025

A lovely property set on a new small housing estate. Wonderfully clean with first class fixtures and fittings. The property is in Docking with all the attractions of the Norfolk coast within easy reach but without the associated traffic. Highlights the house itself...stylish but practical.

The Lawton's, 4th of February 2025

Lovely house on a nice quiet road with the duck pond in front. House was very well equipped. We stayed over Christmas with our young children, and the house was decorated for us. Would stay again and recommend this property to anyone looking for a North Norfolk holiday. The electric blinds and the very well equipped kitchen were great additions to the property. Lots of places for storage upstairs too.

The Pink's, 9th of January 2025

Enjoyed a great week at Tarnside. It’s a nice modern house with a lovely view from lounge and master bedroom over the pond. On a quiet estate, where properties are all well spread out. The bed was very comfortable with luxurious White Stuff bedding which aided for a very good nights sleep! Enjoyed relaxing and chilling out! Thank you for a very enjoyable stay, perfect for exploring Sandringham, Ken Hill, Dersingham Bog, naming just a few of our favourite places!

Really lovely new property. Fantastic dog proof garden. Everything in the property that you could want or need during your stay. Sowerbys have never let us down, when renting a property. We have rented lots of properties over the years and yours is without a doubt the best agency.

The Beard's, 9th of September 2024

Tarnside is a beautiful new build semi, overlooking a duck pond, on a well spaced out small development. It was immaculate and had everything we needed for the week. A large garden laid to grass, with its high dog proof fences meant we could either play ball with the pups or relax on the comfortable garden furniture. An excellent property that we’ll visit again. lots of Nespresso pods; easy cleaning with accessible cleaning tools; beautifully decorated with lots of pictures; a super king bed; Docking is a great base for Norfolk explorations. We thought Tarnside was the best property we’ve stayed in. An absolutely perfect place for us and our pups and will definitely be looking to go back.
