Sybil Cottage is a lovely contemporary Norfolk carrstone cottage which, in our opinion, has one of the best gardens available for a holiday home in the area. Situated in a quiet lane within 10-15 minutes walk to the sand dunes on Holme beach, the cottage has almost an acre of private gardens including two large lawned areas leading to an attractive woodland garden which even has a zip slide at the far end! A well-presented cottage with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms providing perfect holiday accommodation throughout the year for 1 or 2 families, with the added advantage of a downstairs bedroom and bathroom and only a short walk to the local pub.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
- Over an acre of private garden including woodland and a zip-slide
- Ideally located in a quiet lane within walking distance to Holme's sandy beach
- Lovely downstairs bedroom and bathroom
GOOD TO KNOW
- There's a freestanding bath on a stage in bedroom 1
- Although the cottage can sleep 10, the living space is best suited to 8
- Really is a super garden! Please note the trampoline does not have a net and so children must be supervised

There is almost an acre of garden with a large private lawned and terraced area nearest the cottage with outside furniture, a hammock and a barbecue (charcoal). Leading on from this is a second lawned area with a children's play area and trampoline (please note this is not netted and therefore supervision is required at all times). Continuing down the garden there is an attractive cleared woodland area - a brilliant play for the children to play with a zip slide at the far end.
The sandy coast at Holme-next-the-Sea is approximately 10-15 minutes walk across the picturesque Redwell marshes to join the Norfolk Coastal path, and the local pub "The White Horse" only a couple of minutes walk away.
Beach
A pretty village which is a hidden gem located on the North Norfolk Heritage Coast. Holme has an expansive flat sandy beach, ideal for beach games and sand castles during low tide.
In Autumn Holme Dunes is a great area to spot migrating birds from the NWT Nature reserve with a number of hides and trails.
Village
Holme is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is also where the 50-mile Roman Peddars Way walking route meets the North Norfolk Coastal Path. The village is also on the coastal hopper bus route for those of you that wish to travel the coast line. In the centre of the village is the traditional White Horse pub which has a splendid garden with play area to enjoy a bite to eat on a fine day.
History
As well as various military remains from the Second World War that can be glimpsed from the Nature Reserve, the beach is famous for the 1998 discovery of a hidden Bronze Age timber circle known as ‘Sea Henge’. Now on view at Kings Lynn Museum.
Visit
Old Hunstanton is the neighbouring village and the Golf club course boarders onto Holme. Old Hunstanton has some great eateries, lighthouse and fabulous walks along the unspoilt beaches. Hunstanton has its iconic striped cliffs, many amusements, Sea-life centre, leisure pool and traditional promenade. There is also a horse riding stables close by too!

A wonderful stay in a wonderful house. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with us. We have been visiting North Norfolk for over 15 years and still find new things to do! The White Horse, 5 minutes walk away, is lovely and we had an amazing trip to Houghton Hall.
Thank you
What a fabulous place! Everything we could have hoped for and more…Three generations loved every minute. Lovely home from home and the best garden ever!
Thank you…
Totally fabulous
The Greens from Norwich, Batty’s from Wynyard and the Lentons from High Wycombe have had an amazing week enjoying this wonderful home, catering for the needs of all three generations, including a half! We have had a wonderful time making the most of everything here and in the surrounding area, including QEH where the care was just amazing. It’s been a perfect way to enjoy Easter together; walks, the beach and the local celebrations including eggs, church, tea and cake and ice creams in the sunshine, marshmallows around the fire pit and visitors popping to share just loved it too! We are so grateful to you Annette and Kevin for your hospitality, care and thoughtfulness! Lovely welcome pack - something for all ages Spacious and well-equipped kitchen Range of glasses and mugs Beautiful beach-themed art work and decor Freestanding bath Log burner Fire pit Living room to accommodate all 8 of us on sofas to play games Zip wire Games in summer house Beautiful garden Table and chairs outside Bedroom downstairs for Granny En-suites Hot water bottles Accommodating owners when we had a medical emergency - they allowed us to stay an extra night free of charge which was very helpful and kind. Wonderful stay, thank you very much!
We have all had such a lovely time and enjoyed the break so much. You have a lovely home and garden. It was pure luxury and suited us all so well. Thank you for the very generous welcome pack which was enjoyed by all ages. And we loved the fire pit and zip wire of course!
What a fabulous return to Sybil Cottage with our three generations of family. We were so lucky with the weather and returned to some places including Wells. We tried some new ones, Holkham and Snettisham Farm Park. Our 2 year old granddaughter helped to collect eggs.
The garden has been a joy and she loved exploring, finding the rainbow unicorn and trying the zip wire. Thank you. It was a lovely holiday.
Thank you very much for opening your lovely, beautiful cottage for us. Our three generations of family had a wonderful week, be it playing in the beautiful garden or exploring the local beaches and area. We have been coming to Old Hunstanton since the 90’s but we love the peace and natural beauty of Holme. We will return!
We particularly loved the gardens and really enjoyed seeing rabbits in the woodland, and our daughter adored the trampoline and zip wire. We really liked the position of the house in a quiet road with a pretty outlook.
Fantastic home in Holme. We have all had a fantastic time at the cottage. It was all two boys, Mum, Dad and Nana needed. The beach here is the best. We recommend Hunstanton pool for a wet day swim. Hope to be back soon.
Weather didn’t dampen our three generation family holiday. Travelled from Chicago and Cleethorpes to celebrate birthdays. Wells next the Sea was amazing for crabbing and exploring the beach. Sandringham Flower Show was a beautiful day and we managed to get some photographs of King Charles and Camilla. The house was exceptional and the garden provided enjoyment for us all. Holkham Hall was an excellent family day out and the Sea Life Centre in Hunstanton was great on a rainy day.
Thank you so much for letting us stay in this wonderful house and enjoy those gardens! I think the kids will talk of these gardens for the next year! We’ve had a great time exploring and eating our way around North Norfolk and hope to be back!
The garden is beautiful and the children loved exploring it! The kids say that this place feels like home, it has a very welcoming atmosphere. We loved the peace here and would love to return.
Our second visit to North Norfolk and we have enjoyed exploring the area once again, but the cloudy weather has meant no stunning sunsets. Sybil Cottage is obviously well loved, both by visitors and its owners. Perfect for any age group, and well-equipped. We read about ‘Seahenge’ but didn’t have time to visit the Lynn Museum to see the exhibition. Maybe next year… The wooden furnishings in the downstairs bedroom are beautifully made and the artwork on the walls is intriguing. The garden is a joy! Many thanks
Our first stay at Sybil Cottage. Have enjoyed a great week of games in the garden when the sun shone and trips out to Holkham Hall, Wells next-the-Sea, Holme Dunes Nature Reserve and Hunstanton. Cottage is lovely, lots of equipment, has a very homely feel. Garden is beautiful with lots of beautiful shrubs and plants. Kids enjoyed the Tree Top Ropes at Holkham Hall, amusements, crazy golf and fair at Hunstanton. Leisurely afternoons in the garden would have been great if the weather had been better but overall had a wonderful stay. The White Horse pub does a lovely meal with some great pub grub classics. Thanks.
Sybil Cottage was lovely and homely and had everything we needed. The garden was just amazing and we enjoyed walking up and down it, looking for rabbits and deer. We all really enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed spending time in the garden, the kids enjoyed the trampoline and swings. We took the coastal bus in to hunstanton, nice change to driving all the time.We visited the beach alot of which there are many beautiful spots, we visited the beach at holme and wells.Holkham hall was also a nice day out.
Lovely cottage and garden, very homely and welcoming. Well equipped, it felt like we were staying at a friend’s house. We had lovely meals at the Lifeboat Inn and The Orange Tree at Thornham. Lots of nice food and lovely coffee to be had at Thornham Deli. Highlight of our trip was the Snettisham Spectacular, the gathering of thousands of wading seabirds and Titchwell reserve (both RSPB). Burnham Market is a lovely place to visit with lots of independent shops. A lovely stay.
What a lovely cottage and garden that worked well for three generations of Winters family. The youngest member aged 14 months loved seeing the rabbits early in the morning. We loved the access to the different beaches and little villages.
The Bournes are happy returning customers of Sybil Cottage and echo their comments of early July 2021. This house and garden bring us joy! So easy, unfussy and well-equipped. We brought friends from Dorset this time who love it here as much as we do. The amazing weather was an added bonus. Thank you again! PS we found a number of new footpaths and my husband saw his beloved barn owl again!
A lovely week for three generations of Eagles in Norfolk, including the Wash Monster and the Wells to Walsingham Railway. We recommend parking at Holme Dunes if you want easy beach access with children, but need to book online and beware car park closes at 5pm. Loved the garden!
We’ve had a wonderful week. Lovely house, lovely garden. Enjoyed seeing Norfolk. Enjoyed the beach walks. Enjoyed the various eateries. Enjoyed a pint in the White Horse.
Lovely week spend enjoying the beautiful garden and surrounding area. Would recommend the Crab Hut at Brancaster Staithe and the Norfolk Deli at Hunstanton. It has been a great family holiday in a beautiful cottage.
Came for my birthday and to make up for missing out last year. Had a very special family get together at this delightful cottage and garden with enjoyable walks, beaches, food places on the doorstep. The sunshine was a bonus. A privilege to be here.
Second visit but party of six reduced again to two. However great weather and a beautiful cottage. Renewed NWT membership and enjoyed the dunes. A great visit to Thursford Museum. Enjoy the White Horse’s sea bass.
Thank you
We had a lovely family holiday here over Easter. Our five year old grandson loved the zip wire and he and his little sister also enjoyed the trampoline. We all loved the garden!! The weather was excellent and we even managed to eat outside – a real bonus. The children enjoyed Snettisham Farm Park and the Sea Life Centre. Of course, we all loved the beach. A great base for a holiday. We hope to return!
Thank you
We have really enjoyed our stay at Sybil Cottage. A really welcoming and family friendly holiday home. In spite of the somewhat wild weather we have spent a fun time in the beautiful garden when we could. We hope to come again very soon.
We’ve had such a wonderful time in Sybil Cottage. It’s a really light, friendly and cosy space. We have felt more relaxed here than we have for ages. Thank you so much. We have enjoyed some lovely walks and mooched around Burnham Market. Lots of great pub lunches - we enjoyed The Lifeboat, The Hoste and for anyone going as far as Holt, The Wiveton Bell is fantastic.
We had a lovely time, the gardens are beautiful and never ending! As for the house, it was so cozy and clean. It made the stay 100 times better. We hope you had a brill New Year!
Happy 2022 from the Hickling’s and Worrall’s
A lovely Christmas break away for three generations. We had a fantastic time in your property. It had everything we needed for an amazing Christmas dinner, as well as space for everyone’s wrapping paper. We especially enjoyed exploring the garden and encouraging the use of the zipwire.
Thank you ever so much for decorating the property for Christmas, especially the Christmas tree. This was our first Christmas rental and we were worried it wouldn’t be festive, we were pleasantly surprised. Sybil Cottage is a lovely space for our family gathering and memories to be made.
We all love this property and are very grateful that as 2 families of 4 and a Granny the owner allowed us to stay there. My grandchildren adore the garden especially the zip wire. We did remove one of the dead branches from the tree as it was hanging down and bits fell off on us one day. Our whole week was superb, despite rain in the first few days. I would love to think we would be permitted to stay here again.
This was our third stay at idyllic Sybil Cottage, and we all felt at home immediately. The additions to the garden were delightful and we were saddened to read the tribute on the bench. As two families and a Granny spending time here was very special after all the restrictions of Covid 19. We created a week of lovely memories. A trip to the seals at Morston Quay, taking Lily Too as a private boat was particularly memorable. Visits to Sandringham, Snettisham Farm Park and Castle Rising, all things we had somehow missed before, all great fun. Of course the White Horse was our sanctuary for food and drinks – as well as the play area. The beach was like a little piece of heaven, whatever the weather. Watching stars and magnificent sunsets all added to the fun. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your special holiday home and make such lovely memories together. We have all loved it.
To the owners of this magnificent house: thank you so much for letting us stay here. This is our second year and we have enjoyed every moment of it. I love the huge trampoline and the twin bedrooms. The huge garden has been great once again for our crazy cousin who is 2 years old. A huge thanks again
We have had an amazing time at Sybil Cottage – the location is fantastic with the beach and pub close by and a wonderfully quiet setting. The garden was a huge hit with our boys and the games in the summer house were an unexpected surprise. The look of joy on our 2 and 5 year olds on the zip wire will live long in the memory! We are looking forward to returning already!
We have had a wonderful family gathering at Sybil Cottage. Lots of space to gather together or to find a quiet spot to be alone. The house is so thoughtfully equipped – we lacked for nothing! All the toys in the summer house were an added bonus. The garden is a delight and we all enjoyed it. We will definitely return.
Such a wonderful and relaxing week at Sybil Cottage. Thank you so much. The house is lovely and spacious master bedroom – enjoyed many relaxing baths! The garden is amazing and had a wonderful family Sunday with barbecue and grandchildren enjoying the games. The zip wire was a real hit. The weather got better and better after a dreadful forecast so enjoyed walks, beach picnics and golf. Be back next year!
Had a wonderful holiday in Sybil Cottage – what an absolute delight she proved to be! Lovely house with oodles of amenities and a truly magnificent garden. Pure heaven. Have fallen in love with Sybil and plan to return in the not too distant future. Perfect house, village, pub and location.
What a wonderful week! Great fun had by all in a lovely cottage and glorious gardens, made even better by fabulous weather. This cottage really does have everything you could need and plenty of outdoor games to entertain both children and adults. The hammock and zip wire were a big hit!
Thank you for providing such lovely accommodation. The garden areas are an absolute delight and provide an opportunity for relaxing, playing, exploring and searching for wildlife. The blue tits have been busy feeding their young in the nesting box, rabbits have been wandering amongst the bluebells and a hedgehog has also visited. Marsh harriers can be seen gliding above the garden… wonderful. Our favourite spot? The beautiful seating area which is a tribute to your Mum. Listening to the gentle sound of the chime bells is so therapeutic.
Our party of 8 reduced to a party of 2 due to Covid restrictions. However most shops were open such as Drove Orchards (Erics fish and chips), Crab Hut at Brancaster Staithe and Hunstanton’s bakery. Great weather for the time of year with very few people around. Just pleasant to get the outside exercise after a year of lockdown restrictions. Love the cottage and gardens. Thank you.
A lovely week spent with the grandkids at Sybil Cottage. Lots of good walking and a great kitchen for preparing family meals. Spent happy hours in the garden.
Me and my sisters really enjoyed the zip line in the forest and the games that we could play from the shed in the big garden. Thanks to Boris, we enjoyed the 1 minute walk to the White Horse pub to have dinner at the pub for 50% off the food. We have had lots of fun in Hunstanton in all the shops and arcade and the rides at the fair. We have also been to Sheringham for Ellies ice cream. We have been on our scooters most nights up and down the road and down to the beach. We love Norfolk.
I have loved this holiday. We have been to the beach everyday and played several games in the garden. My favourite part of this holiday has been looking after my baby cousin in the garden. The house has tons of room for our baby cousin to play around. I loved the zipwire, the swings and the trampoline. The beds and sofas are very comfortable.
Thank you
A wonderful week away with our family in this very well equipped holiday home and most beautiful garden.
Thank you.
We had a lovely time at Sybil Cottage. We love the garden with the trampoline, swings, zipwire and the tyre swing. The cottage is very well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. We had a great meal at the Gin Trap Inn and another at the White Horse.
Lovely half term. Very wet start then lovely bright days since. Great house for a family holiday. The children thought the garden was wonderful. The adult section is very stylish. Another lovely stay in Norfolk. Lovely food again at the Thornham Deli, The Yurt, Hoste. We ran out of days! Many thanks
This house has made us very welcome. Seeing Mum (who is 88) swinging on the swing brings back childhood memories. The zipwire did get used by my husband and myself! You do not have to be young to enjoy the gardens. Will come back again. Thank you.
Really enjoyed our holiday – Fantastic weather all week. The cottage location is great. Very tranquil. Easy access to beach and walks, and a lovely pub just down the road.
This was our second visit to Sybil Cottage and, as always, we had a fabulous holiday. We have had a week of glorious weather which has allowed us to make the most of the beautiful gardens. Kids have enjoyed scamping around the woods, using the trampoline and playing games on the grass. We have enjoyed numerous barbecues and spent most days down at the beach – namely Old Hunstanton beach (perfect for kids) and Brancaster. We are leaving with wonderful memories, made all the better by this magical holiday cottage.
A mixed week of weather but we kept busy and have had an enjoyable visit. We were here 6 years ago and the small offspring were too young to enjoy the garden. They have made up for it this visit!!
Once again the garden proved to be a great attraction. It is a peaceful retreat for the adults and still provides a variety of activities for the children. Vines/Topp families
This house is great. We enjoyed the things in the summer house. We took the boogie boards to the beach. Thank you, Sophie Topp
Once again the garden feels better than last year. Thank you, Jacob Topp
A break away with three generations of our families, and a chance to introduce our latest arrival – five weeks old – to the beauty of the Norfolk coast. We couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable or beautiful property: will miss the view of the trees outside the upstairs balcony in the mornings, and our eldest (three years old) will be sad not to have the trampoline, horse and other games to play. Would love to come back – permanently!
Thank you for a wonderful stay! The gardens are fantastic – the children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the woods, spotted rabbits and of course, the zip wire. Very well equipped house that suited all 8 of us very comfortably. Norfolk is one of our favourite places and the house is the perfect base to explore – particularly Pensthorpe and Holkham.
Thank you for a fantastic stay, the house and garden are amazing. Marianne (5) love the bunk beds and Wilf (3) loved everything!
We all really enjoyed staying in the house - very comfortable and well equipped.
We appreciated the effective heating and the log burner.
Everyone, even Grandad on his 80th birthday enjoyed the zip wire.
Lovely walks to Hunstanton, Thornham and Ringstead.
Good meals at The White Horse in the village and The Lifeboat at Thornham.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Holme and more specifically Sybil Cottage. The gardens in particular are beautiful and enchanting and the kids have had endless fun on the trampoline, swings and zip wire in the woods. The cottage is snug and homely and we have settled in properly. We appreciate the well equipped kitchen, the decent showers and the fantastic book, music and DVD collection. It felt nice staying in a family home that has clearly been loved by so many. We have visited Norfolk many times but never to Holme. We've enjoyed the peaceful, quaint and calm surroundings and the proximity to Sunny Hunny and Brancaster, Wells etc. We will be back!! Thanks again
Great house. Great location. Go to Wells, Holkham, Burnham Market. Erics fish and chips were great. Zip wire a huge hit - love the garden. We had a great time. White Horse great food. Grandma and Grandad, Frances x 4 including kids 11 and 15, Lewis x 2
Our second visit to Sybil Cottage as a family (1-6 August 2016) previously. We felt at home as soon as we were all gathered together, enjoying the garden immediately as the weather was glorious. Ethan 8 remembered the garden and zip wire and was thrilled to share it with his cousin Jacob (4 1/2). Rachel 21 months, her leg recently out of plaster loved the trampoline. We all had some lovely evenings in the garden of the White Horse including a very good meal of fish and chips. Beach days, outings to see the seals at Blakeney and a slightly longer trip to Roarr - Dinosaur Adventure Land all added up to another memorable family holiday. Thank you for letting us make this delightful house our home for the week.
We have enjoyed our visit to the Norfolk coast and made the most of the fantastic weather. The cottage is perfect for our three generation family. The grandchildren, aged 8 and 6, were very impressed with the gardens and the summerhouse. I am sure we will be back! This is a beautiful house with a great garden and with beautiful surroundings - Jacob Topp aged 8 I like the zip wire and the playing pool in the summer house - Sophie Topp aged 6
We had a very enjoyable week, with excellent weather. The garden is a delight. The garden toys were much appreciated and the house is very comfortable. Our two grandsons had great fun.
A wonderful cottage, beautiful gardens... never ending! Well equipped with provisions - listened to music in the evenings instead of TV. Amazing variety of good music. Thank you. Would consider to return - Holme is a peaceful relaxing hamlet. Seen rare birds like bitten, cookoo and lapwings. An enjoyable week.
Wow! What a fantastic week at Sybil Cottage and what a wonderful garden 😊 A great place for 3 generations of our family to enjoy Hunstanton and it's surroundings
What a wonderful haven especially for children (big and small!). Well equipped, lovely master bedroom but the garden is just amazing.
Thank you
Another great week in Norfolk! Down for the tennis and a win! The sun shone all week. Holme beach and Old Hunstanton beach are great.
Ate at the yurt (Shucks) in Thornham - very good especially the burgers. Love love love Thornham Deli!
The garden is a delight. Loved the massive bean bags for the garden and the zip wire.
We've had a very enjoyable week here in this lovely house and fantastic garden. Our children loved the zip wire and all the garden games. We were joined by our Mums on the Sunday and Dad on Thursday so three generations and plenty of space for us all. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen extremely well equipped. Lovely location and enjoyable walk to the beach.
The children liked the bunk room and the master bedroom is spacious and the balcony great with a lovely view of the garden.
We would have loved to have stayed longer and hope to come back one day. Thank you.
What a lovely time we have had at Sybil Cottage. The grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed their times in your amazing garden that goes on, seemingly forever. What a wonderful main garden too. Every blessing to all who assist in running this holiday home.
Many thanks for a lovely week. Children adored the freedom of the garden and we enjoyed the peace whilst they played! Would recommend boat trip tio see the seals from Morston - we used Beans Boats. Also the lovely old fashioned sweet shop in Burnham Market (Mables). Lovely walk from the house to the Holme Visitor Centre and then on to Thornham for deli pit stop (take away picnic).
A very enjoyable stay in your lovely house. The children enjoyed the fascinations of the garden (and the cows in the field next door!) plus the activities provided.. We loved teh village setting and the proximity of the local pub (with playground!). Lots of interesting bird life in the area and some wonderful local beaches. We all loved spending a wet day at the Sealife Centre in Hunstanton and two glorious days in Wells. The 5 day stay was all too short - we didn't want to go home!
We have had a wonderful holiday in your lovely cottage. The children enjoyed the summerhouse toys!
Thank you
Fantastic week in Norfolk - down for tennis week and the sun shone! The garden and games room are super - the kids (13 and 11) loved the zip wire and basketball hoop and the garden games were great.
Thornham Deli was as great as we remembered, as was the White Horse at Brancaster. Do try Eric's fish and chips at Orchard Drove and the afternoon tea at Titchwell Manor and go to Titchwell Bird Reserve.
Thank you for a lovely week.
Was fascinated by the pictures of the beautiful girls during the years - our home is full of photos of 5 lovely girls and 3 boys! An exciting garden - the young grandsons were thrilled with it.
The beautiful weather kept us in the gardens for the first day and a half - most unusual. Such a warm homely atmosphere around the cottage.
Thank you for allowing us to use your delightful home in Holme, with its most amazing garden. 2 little boys have been in their element especially when we explored the 'Gruffalo Wood'.
The beach days we've enjoyed have been superb and morning walks to the sea have been invigorating. 2 big boys have relished the proximity of The White Horse for their daily revival.
All in all a memorable holiday.
We had a fabulous week. The cottage is just perfect and the gardens are amazing. They kept a 6 5 4 and 3 year old entertained all week! We enjoyed Snettisham Park and Hunston beach is great.
We hope to come back soon!
We would like to thank you for the lovely peaceful stay at Sybil Cottage. A perfect getaway for busy city ladies. This home put us all at ease and peace with its comfort and warmth.
The log fire is a real treat. We had great weather and took the walk down to Holme Nature Reserve. Great place to dine - nearby The Orange Tree - yummy.
