Village

Possibly one of the prettiest villages in North Norfolk, this Georgian village is within easy access to the North Norfolk Coast, still with a quaint feel, with many trendy shops. The village retains a ‘step back in time’ feel with leafy green trees and picturesque village green. Burnham Market has a traditional post office, book shop and hardware shop as well as beautiful boutiques and lifestyle shops, from the butchers and baker to fine dining and deli’s. There’s a superb fishmonger Gurneys with locally caught seafood including Brancaster mussels and Cromer crab - be sure to try the amazing fresh fishcakes. It’s a lovely village to visit to peruse the shops or even for a bite to eat in one of the restaurants. There are a lot of eateries to choose from… The Hoste for fine dining or afternoon tea, No Twenty9, The Nelson, award-winning Socius, Burnham Tearoom, or Tilly’s Cafe, there’s something to suit every taste. There is also a children’s play park, hard tennis courts and two parish churches one at each end of the village. If in need of a little pampering why not book a treatment or two at The Hoste Beauty Spa.There is also a dog groomer so you can have the best pampered pooch in the village.

Visit

With a scenic ride to the coast, you can enjoy lazy days on the beaches of Brancaster or Wells. Alternatively pull on your walking boots and investigate diverse coastal path walks, taking in all the birds and wildlife. Leave the car behind and pop on the Coastal Hopper bus and do a tour from Wells and The Burnhams to Norfolk's west coast. Don't forget to visit Holkham which not only has a superb beach, but majestic Holkham Hall which is well worth a visit: hire a boat on the lake, hop on a bike to explore the woodlands, test your bravery on the rope course, play in the woodland play park, take in the breathtaking rooms and art in the main house or simply enjoy tea and cake in the courtyard cafe. If big houses are your thing there are many others to visit with Houghton Hall and its fantastic sculpture collection, the house and grounds of Royal Sandringham to name a few! Get on the water, there are many activities from kite and windsurfing in Hunstanton, sailing in Brancaster Staithe, seal and boat trips from Brancaster and Wells, or take a beautiful trip on The Coastal Exploration Company and learn about the wildlife, trading and smuggling in the salt marshes or along the coast.

Guest reviews

This is a beautiful and fully equipped property. On the outskirts of Burnham Market so lovely and quiet but only a 10 minute walk to village centre. It is very comfortable for 3 couples as bedrooms are large and all en suite. We had a lovely week stay and if we come back to the area we will see if this property is available as it would be our first choice. Lovely sociable house and very private garden so we did cook at home and relaxed .

Tjhe Smith's, 2nd of August 2024

Excellent cottage. No complaints about anything. The owners have created a very lovely holiday home

The Howells, 1st of July 2024

This cottage is truly luxurious, very well maintained, with high standards of decoration and furniture, fixtures and equipment. Very much like home from home for us! The photographs on the website do not do the property justice. We were lucky to have chosen the best week for weather of the summer so far which certainly enhanced our holiday experience. We dined out at the Hoste hotel and Twenty 29, both fabulous. Well’s next the Sea beach was lovely for our dog, although it wasn’t as accessible for my dad as we would have liked ( he could only make the trip once as wheelchairs or walking frames impossible).

Sue, 21st of June 2024

Beautiful bungalow with high-quality furniture and equipment. There was everything there for us to use. We will certainly book this property again. Very comfortable place to relax and to enjoy the wonderful north Norfolk coast. Plus we had good weather. It was a pleasure to stay in such a lovely property.

The Johnson's, 12th of June 2024

Olive's is a fabulous cottage, much time and care has been taken to ensure that everything you could possibly need is provided. All furnishings, glassware and crockery are of a very high standard. We have stayed in many houses in Norfolk, but I think this rates as the best equipped.Thank you to the owners for providing such a great holiday home.

Burnham Market is a wonderful destination in north Norfolk and combined with the excellence of Olive’s Cottage you are absolutely guaranteed a terrific holiday. We, with our two small dogs, soon felt very much at home in the cottage. The quality of the furnishings, the decor, the amazing range of glassware, crockery etc was far beyond our expectations. We arrived happy and left after a week very contented with our stay. There are so many. Beach walks in Wells. Brancaster, Holkham and Cley. Shopping in Burnham Market and Holt and Thornham Deli. Visiting the forest walk in Sandringham and having a nice tea in the cafe. A brief tour of Creake Abbey and its retail outlets.
We have stayed in Norfolk on 5 different occasions and this cottage is by far the best equipped and most comfortable. We quite enjoyed being 10-15 minutes walk out of the centre of the town. The quietness and the walk is the trade-off and it didn’t bother us at all.

The Wilk's, 10th of May 2024

Definitely has the wow factor. Superb interior design to such fine detail. Very comfortable accommodation and wonderful home to relax in. In spite of very cold weather we loved our stay and managed to do all the things we had hoped to do. We will be recommending Olive’s cottage to our friends. Visited Sandringham, Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall. Lunch at the White Horse, Brancaster Staithe. Very interesting market at Burnham Market on 20.4.

Wow what an amazing property. We loved everything about this beautiful cottage. We loved our week in North Norfolk with our family and dogs. We would definitely love to come back 🥰 We were blown away with this property. We had a couple of days where we weren’t able to do much as one of our dogs had a bad foot so made the most of staying in and relaxing. Every need was catered for and all fixtures and fittings were top notch.

We have stayed in many cottages over the years, but in my opinion this is by far the best place we have ever stayed, from the time we opened the front door to the time we closed it on our final day we were steeped in luxury the décor, furnishing and equipment were all fabulous.
Olives Cottage is truly a luxurious 5 star property and we cannot wait to return. it is an absolute credit to the owners.

The Smiths, 29th of March 2023

Great stay at Olives cottage. By far the best place we've stayed in. Everything was absolutely beautiful and all looked brand new. The location just on the edge of Burnham market was great for walking into the village for food drink and shops. We will certainly return and recommend to friends and family.
First time to North Norfolk and we enjoyed the area immensely. Quiet in February and some lovely walks around the extensive coast line. The cottage itself was a great highlight for us and we enjoyed returning at the end of each day to cook in the large sociable kitchen dining area.
