A lovely home, just perfect for our needs. Really well situated too for getting to places and so quiet! the Lifeboat at Thornham was great for food as was Great Walsingham Barns and wonderful ice cream in Hunstanton, overlooking the beach on a lovely sunny day. The Welcome Pack was indeed welcome too!!

Burnham Overy Staithe

Location

A pretty coastal village with a busy harbour which used to be predominantly a fishing village, but is now a very popular place for sailors, walkers and bird-watchers, with the area being designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. There is an excellent local gastro-pub called The Hero which re-opened after extensive refurbishment and has quickly gained a great reputation.

During the summer there is a ferry out to the nature reserve of Scolt Head Island, a bird and seal sanctuary. For the more energetic it takes about 30 minutes to walk along the coastal footpath across the marshes out to the vast expanse of sandy beach which is quite often deserted. The large black Burnham Overy windmill dominates the skyline for miles around and on the outskirts of village there is a fine collection of 18th century mill-buildings next to the river Burn.
