The Village

A delightful village and one of Norfolk's best kept secrets, this peaceful village is located off the beaten track and makes a great base in which to explore Norfolk. This gem of a village has an array of listed buildings including the renowned Gin Trap Inn which serves delicious locally sourced food and drinks - a wonderful destination for dining and also a great stock of over 100 gins. If that does not whet your appetite, Ringstead has a great village general store which sells all you want and more! From fresh bread to local organic meats and cheeses, to seasonal vegetables down to the humble newspaper. They also have a collection of antiquities and bric a brac so make sure you have plenty of time to browse.

The village is perfect for walking and cycling, not only is the village on the Peddars Way route leading to the beautiful coast at Holme, and along the National Cycling Route, it also has wonderful Ringstead Downs: one of the largest chalk grasslands in the country, many interesting plants, wildlife and birds can be seen. Spectacular walks for all the family including your four-legged friend too!

Visit

Located approximately 2 miles away from the popular seaside town of Hunstanton where you can enjoy many activities from kayaking to crazy golf. The town has an array of seafront amusements for all the family. Whether you want to take your bucket and spade to the sandy beaches of Old Hunstanton, enjoy a stroll with your furry friend, or fine dine at the Neptune Michelin starred restaurant there’s something for everyone close by. There are also three grand houses in the area to visit: Sandringham Estate, Houghton Hall and Holkham Hall. All three have gardens, grounds and tearooms making for a great day out. You will find that there are many local delis and delicacies to try like samphire or delicious local mussels. Visit Burnham Market and pick up some freshly made fish cakes from Gurneys, it is also a wonderful leafy village to browse the many boutique and independent shops and restaurants.

A beautiful and tastefully decorated cottage which was very homely. Well stocked kitchen with crockery and utensils. Handy local shop nearby as well as the Gin Trap Inn which was great for drinks. Some great beaches and eating places - cottage was in a good location. Great that our dog was able to stay with us too.

The Shaw's, 23rd of August 2024

We had a great time. The sun was shining so we enjoyed a lovely walk at Burnham Overy Staithe followed by a fantastic meal at the Hero followed by sundowners sitting outside the GinnTrap. Saturday morning started with a fab breakfast at Thornham Deli, a lovely walk at Holme next to Sea with food eaten at the White Horse. Sunday we explored Thornham beach and ate roast beef at White Horse Holme.

The Watson's, 5th of July 2024

Lovely and cosy fantastic location Well equipped had everything we needed we had a fabulous week in Ringstead but had great walks on the stunning beach at Holme next the sea and great pub lunches by roaring fires.

The Benton's, 13th of January 2024

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and made lots of happy memories in this comfortable cottage. Thank you. It’s a nice, comfortable and child friendly property. Great to be near the general stores and to have the children’s playground in the village. The children enjoyed Farmer Fred’s Barn soft-play in Hunstanton. The beach cafe in Old Hunstanton was wonderful. Brancaster beach was our favourite beach. Eric’s fish and chips is great and the playground in Brancaster was lovely. Holkham beach and house definitely worth a visit - two if our children did the rope challenge and really loved it. Lots of nearby places for eating and pretty villages to visit. Pensthorpe wetlands was good and had lots to see.

The Malsky-Darley's, 18th of September 2023

Fabulous stay in a quaint, quirky cottage. The layout worked really well for us and the owners have really thought of everything you might need. Loved the village location and being so close to the areas of Norfolk we wanted to explore. Had a really relaxing week and we were sad to leave. Would definitely stay here again.
Well equipped cottage with lots of thoughtful touches; the games, DVDs, beach bag and toys and even a windbreak. The location was perfect; in a pretty village with easy access to the coast. Village shop was well equipped and reasonably priced although restricted opening hours. Only 10 minutes to Hunstanton for larger supermarkets.

Our third week here, over the last few years, such a lovely cottage

Nash Family, 10th of June 2022

We had a fantastic time out and about on the beaches, walking miles around Ringstead. It was lovely to come back to a cosy warm cottage. Love meals at Caley Hall and of course The Gin Trap Inn.

The France Family, 13th of August 2021

Really nice cottage, great location and good size for our family of five to have good space. The kids loved the large amount of games and the chromecast on the TV was handy for streaming films from our Netflix account.

France Family, 28th of May 2021

We had a lovely stay thank you. Our children loved all of the games and the cottage is beautifully furnished. 10 out of 10 for cleanliness and really well decorated and furnished

The Coker's, 4th of July 2020

We had a wonderful 9 days in Lime Cottage, booking an extra 2 nights to extend our stay.
It is a lovely property, beautifully and thoughtfully furnished and equipped and one of the best cottages we have stayed in, feeling like a much loved home rather than a sterile holiday let (and as holiday home owners ourselves we are very fussy!).
Ringstead is a beautiful, well positioned village with an excellent pub and handy, well stocked and very interesting local shop.
We hope to return to Lime Cottage very soon. Thank you for letting us share your super home.

The Weavers, 5th of July 2019

This is our 2nd visit so we already knew how great the cottage would be! 10 out of 10 for cleanliness and garden, the owner has gone the extra mile to give every modern convenience whilst carefully maintaining the charm and cosiness of the original. The only thing we didn't like was that we had to leave..... genuinely can't think of anything that we wanted or needed that wasn't provided will definitely be back!

Prentice, 15th of March 2019

Better than Expected. The furnishing and fit of the house was perfect. Very tasteful and absolutely everything we could need. Loved the space available and the fitting out, especially the kitchen. One of the best of your cottages I have seen

Deborah Sacks, 9th of January 2019
