Village
Possibly one of the prettiest villages in North Norfolk, this Georgian village is within easy access to the North Norfolk Coast, still with a quaint feel, with many trendy shops. The village retains a ‘step back in time’ feel with leafy green trees and picturesque village green. Burnham Market has a traditional post office, book shop and hardware shop as well as beautiful boutiques and lifestyle shops, from the butchers and baker to fine dining and deli’s. There’s a superb fishmonger Gurneys with locally caught seafood including Brancaster mussels and Cromer crab - be sure to try the amazing fresh fishcakes. It’s a lovely village to visit to peruse the shops or even for a bite to eat in one of the restaurants. There are a lot of eateries to choose from… The Hoste for fine dining or afternoon tea, No Twenty9, The Nelson, award-winning Socius, Burnham Tearoom, or Tilly’s Cafe, there’s something to suit every taste. There is also a children’s play park, hard tennis courts and two parish churches one at each end of the village. If in need of a little pampering why not book a treatment or two at The Hoste Beauty Spa.There is also a dog groomer so you can have the best pampered pooch in the village.
Visit
With a scenic ride to the coast, you can enjoy lazy days on the beaches of Brancaster or Wells. Alternatively pull on your walking boots and investigate diverse coastal path walks, taking in all the birds and wildlife. Leave the car behind and pop on the Coastal Hopper bus and do a tour from Wells and The Burnhams to Norfolk's west coast. Don't forget to visit Holkham which not only has a superb beach, but majestic Holkham Hall which is well worth a visit: hire a boat on the lake, hop on a bike to explore the woodlands, test your bravery on the rope course, play in the woodland play park, take in the breathtaking rooms and art in the main house or simply enjoy tea and cake in the courtyard cafe. If big houses are your thing there are many others to visit with Houghton Hall and its fantastic sculpture collection, the house and grounds of Royal Sandringham to name a few! Get on the water, there are many activities from kite and windsurfing in Hunstanton, sailing in Brancaster Staithe, seal and boat trips from Brancaster and Wells, or take a beautiful trip on The Coastal Exploration Company and learn about the wildlife, trading and smuggling in the salt marshes or along the coast.

A beautiful cottage had a very happy stay. very well equipped. Very convenient for visiting so many places.
This ticked every box - location, house, area, comfort and convenience. Thank you. We had stayed in this house four years ago so it was just as lovely. We can see there had been further improvements so it's remains a really lovely property in a beautiful little enclave behind the street.
We had a lovely comfortable stay at Lavender cottage for two weeks. Everyone locally was so friendly with so many great places walk from the cottage. Thank you so much we had a great time. We were blessed with wonderful weather and we thoroughly enjoyed the walk down to Holkham Beach from Burnham Market via Burnham Overy Staithe. Relaxing in Holkham Park was equally enjoyable.
Lovely cottage and ideally placed to walk into Burnham Market. Nice and clean and well appointed. Weekend stay for Margaret’s birthday. Nice meal at the Hoste and Twenty nine. Lovely walk at Holkham an Brancaster beaches.
A delightful cottage, well equipped and in a very handy position to walk to the shops and restaurants.Weather was kind to us so ale to visit many of the stately homes as well as walks on Brancaster beach. Ate out a lot and our highlights were The White Horse at Brancaster and Socius, both of which we booked in advance and ate twice there.
Super cottage right in the heart of the village. The quality of the accommodation and everything provided was very high and we wanted for nothing (except some sunshine!) We would be very happy to return. Thank you. Highlights Bird watching. Spending time with family.
We enjoyed our stay here with our Spaniel, Dash! Beautifully decorated, very clean , and in a great location right in the centre of Burnham Market. It is also very well equipped, one of the best we’ve stayed at in this respect. We will be back! Breakfast in the beautifully lit ‘conservatory’.
Lovely stay, Beautiful Cottage with everything we needed.
A wonderful stay at a very special cottage. We have stayed in Burnham many times over the years. This has to be one of the best. Beautifully decorated and well equipped. And in the very centre of the village for easy access to the shops, pubs and restaurants.Thank you fantastic.
Fantastically well-equipped cottage for easy self-catering - many thanks, you thought of everything! We slept well on the comfortable bed. At a different time of year (ie less rain!) I'm sure we would have been able to enjoy the outside space too. We come to Burnham Market fairly regularly and always enjoy familiar walks at Brancaster, Morston, Blakeney and Holkham, along with cafe stops in the village and elsewhere. A wet day took us over to Holt with a stop off at 'Back to the Garden' and its beautiful barn (also Binham).
Very clean well equipped cottage.
As regular visitors to Norfolk, lavender cottage could now be one of our favourite places to stay. Lovely cosy cottage in a gorgeous village with pubs and a good selection of shops nearby. Ideal ground floor bedroom, downstairs toilet and staircase not too steep for my elderly mother in law. Fabulous weekend break. Cottage clean & facilities of a high standards Comfortable beds, pillows White company bath products Welcome food hamper.
Lavender Cottage was clean, comfortable and really well equipped. There were only 2 of us staying but the cottage would easily accommodate a family of 4 or 5. We had a lovely week in North Norfolk with perfect weather for exploring the area around Burnham Market.
The highlights for us were the beautiful beaches and nature reserves. We had a fabulous meal at Socius and would highly recommend the restaurant for people looking for a different eating experience.
