Floorplan

Beach

A sought-after coastal holiday destination with unspoilt golden sandy beaches. The sand dunes, beach huts and pine trees separate the village from the dog friendly beach. The quieter Old Hunstanton is situated only a mile from Hunstanton town, with the beautiful stripy cliffs standing between the two sandy beaches.

Village

Home to the highly regarded links course of Hunstanton Golf Club which has an excellent 18-hole course. The village also boasts a range of great places to eat including the Michelin starred Neptune, The Lodge Hotel and Le Strange Arms. There's a well-stocked village shop and post office too.

History

The village of Old Hunstanton was named in the Domesday book at ‘Hunestanestada’, it later became part of the Le Strange family estates. The parish church of St Mary is situated in the grounds of Hunstanton Hall (Grade 1 listed) home to the Le Strange family for centuries.

Visit

A great area for walkers and cyclists, close to the Peddars Way footpath as well as the National Cycle Route and the neighbouring Hunstanton town and the quiet villages of Holme-next-the-Sea and Ringstead. Just a short drive away is the royal residence of Sandringham Estate. Further along the North Norfolk Coastal Path the pretty villages of Thornham and Brancaster can be found, with many nature reserves along the way including RSPB Titchwell. The pretty Georgian village of Burnham Market with a range of independent shops surrounding the leafy village green is also a popular destination.

Guest reviews

Great location, Easy access to the beach and walk to either Hunstanton or Holme. Lodge hotel is next door great for bar drinks or an excellent meal Beach café superb also. The cottage's enclosed courtyard garden although small is a lovely spot to sit and for the most part the development had no other visitors so was peacefully quiet for us. Cottage is reasonably well appointed, with the village shop next door on supermarkets in Hunstanton. We will definitely return to Old Hunstanton, possibly stay in this cottage or alternatively one of the others offered by Sowerbys.

The Robbie's, 22nd of May 2024

Very well appointed cottage with secure parking and easy access to the beach, town and local attractions. Houghton Hall and the beach walks were highlights of our stay.

The Barker family, 17th of May 2024

A very comfortable cottage, excellent location for dog friendly beach, also lovely park across the road. The back garden was very secure straight out from dining area. Lovely quiet area no traffic noise or noise from the pub next door. Secure off road parking. Would definitely return.
Location was perfect, the beds were extremely comfortable. Loved the open plan downside, was a lovely size for 5 of us and 2 small dogs. We were pleased to find salt, vinegar, etc provided. Even spices and teabags. One of the best cottages we’ve stayed at with all things provided.

The Woodward's, 29th of August 2023
