Village and Harbour
Brancaster Staithe is the coastal village nestled between Brancaster and Burnham Deepdale which flow into one almost continuous settlement. The village boasts a picturesque fishing harbour with sailing club with sailing school, two lovely pubs, The White Horse with outside dining that looks over the Staithe and has a great seasonal menu. The Jolly sailors which boasts a national family pub award, they have an outside eating area, play area and serve delicious pizza as well as putting on music events as well as an Ale festival. Near the harbour is the National Trust Activity Centre, just off the coastline is the Scolt Head Island National Nature reserve as off shore 4 mile long sand bar that extends from Brancaster to Wells-next-the-Sea. You can take a boat trip with Branta Cruises to visit the island, also great for bird watching so take your binoculars. Be sure to pop to The Fish Shed for some lovely sea food and the famous Brancaster Mussels.
On the Door Step
Burnham Deepdale merges with Brancaster Staithe and has the Dalgate Market shops, cafe, great for breakfast, tourist information and bike hire. Annual Spring Market, 1940’s weekend and The charming Christmas Market are some of the events you can visit at Dalgate market
With the Norfolk coastline being one of the most diverse in the country many of the beaches have something different to offer. The Coastal Path makes for beautiful scenic walks to take in the sea air. There is some great wildlife form the many Nature reserves, Titchwell, The Lookout in Holkham Nature Reserve and Cley Marshes Visitors Centre to name a few. Some more unusual animal encounters might be the Llamas in Wells or the beautiful seal trips from Blakeney or Morston.

Field Cottage in Brancaster Staithe. Field Cottage is in a very handy location for Brancaster Staithe harbour for sailing, the boardwalk to the beach and the local pubs and shops. It was useful to have the outside space and utility room to store bikes and wetsuits. Swimming at Brancaster beach, sailing, long cycle ride to Holkham Hall, walk along boardwalk at Holme, visit to Houghton Hall, good beer at The White Horse.
Lovely bungalow in a good location, very clean and well-presented, and well equipped. After weeks of cold, cloud and damp most of the time we were there was hot, sunny and fine, which came as something of a shock, so cooling sea breezes at Brancaster and Burnham Overy Staithes were very welcome, and there was always something to watch. RSPB Titchwell was as full of birds as ever, and Sculthorpe Moor Reserve is well worth a visit, particularly for wheelchair users.
We had a lovely stay in Field Cottage which was very comfortable, clean and well equipped and situated quietly at the edge of the village, close to the harbour with lovely views across the fields. Wonderful night skies, sheltered seating in the garden and warm and cosy sitting room on the colder nights.
The cottage was perfectly placed for visiting all our favourite places on the north coast and we had very happy, windswept walks on the Brancaster. Staithe boardwalks, Brancaster beach, Thornham, Titchwell and further afield at West Runton , Walsingham, Blakeney and Wells. Excellent meals at the Jolly Sailors, Wiveton Bell, Hoste Arms. Thank you.it was beautifully clean and well presented, and we appreciated the boot trays which made it easy to keep muddy boots out of the cottage! Also great to have sufficient well spaced coat pegs in the hallway, which has not been our experience at other cottages.
Excellently positioned for exploring the north Norfolk coast. Beaches, wildlife , scenery, places of interest and eateries. It is difficult to find fault with this part of Norfolk irrespective of the weather there is always something to do. The appearance of muntjacs in the garden. One on three occasions came and made itself at home until it noticed us watching and disappeared through the hole in the hedge.
Lovely quiet cottage. Good base for walking the coast path or popping to nearby Titchwell Marsh reserve for some bird-watching. The local pub, The Jolly Sailors, was convenient for takeaway pizzas or for a meal out, otherwise the cottage had everything needed for a cosy evening in in front of the (electric) fire. The nearest shop is a mile or so along the road, but was useful for supplies. Overall we enjoyed another good break on the bracing Norfolk coast. Had a trip to see seals from Morston Quay, near Blakeney. It started in beautiful, calm, sunny weather and ended in a hailstorm! Always enjoy seeing the pink-footed geese flying over at dusk - sometimes right over the cottage. A day spent at Holkham, walking on the beach, spending time watching birds from the hides and visiting the Holkham estate as they set up for Christmas.
Great place to stay for those big sky Norfolk coastal walks and wildlife. Spotting - geese, ducks, deer, harriers etc. Good food at the Jolly Sailors (take-away and in)...and as for the doorbell...!! :-)
Nice quiet location though still very convenient for marshes, restaurants and shops. Great to see barn owl in field from kitchen window.
Came to celebrate a birthday. Cottage ticked all the boxes. Wonderful to see pink footed geese flying over in their hundreds. Went to Burn Valley vineyard for wine and All Saints Church in Burnham Thorpe.
Very comfortable base for exploring coast, countryside and stately homes. Recommend Holkham and the pizzas at the Jolly Sailors.

Position of cottage , good amenities, quietness and lovely lounge big telly for my elderly father .Convenient located to harbour to walk at night and local pub. Kitchen brilliant and easy use of cooker ect.
A lovely home for our short break. Everything easy to use. Thank you.
A lovely clean, comfortable and well equipped home. Despite the cool wind we have had a wonderful holiday. Thank you!
We enjoyed our stay in Field Cottage, so peaceful and relaxing. The sunny weather was better than we expected. We enjoyed Holkham Hall and beach, Titchwell bird reserve and beach and exploring the Norfolk Coastal Path.
Our first stay in Field Cottage but hopefully not the last! Thank you for all the "home comforts" which made for an enjoyable week. Loved the area and the birds and wildlife. Getting away and slowing down from the pressures of today's living.
Another lovely stay in the comfortable Field Cottage. Ideal house for birdwatching. We look forward to our next visit! Thank you!
Well positioned for Norfolk coast. Good for walking, bird watching and restaurants. Blue sky all the way, very windy. Ideal walking weather.
Blue skies all the week, but windy. Great for all the places along the coast. Good walking, birdwatching and restaurants.
Well equipped cottage, great location for walks as well as refreshments at either The Jolly Sailors or The White Horse. Had a great stay.

Loved our stay at Field Cottage. We did lots of bird watching at the usual coastal haunts and also enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at Sculthorpe Moor Reserve. Comfortable cottage to come back to. Thank you.
Cottage in a superb location for birdwatching. We did Snettisham, Titchwell and Cley and the added bonus of 8 waxwings in Sheringham, not forgetting 3000+ starlings roosting in the marshes across the road. Loved the fish shack and Phil in the Smokery (White Horse car park) did us proud with smoked fish platters. The weather was a bonus too for the time of the year.
Comfortable cottage in a convenient location. Birdwatching along the north Norfolk coast was the highlight of our stay.
Comfortable stay, reasonable weather. Lots to see and do. Great local pubs.
Our second visit and we have had a lovely time. The weather has been kind to us perfect location for travelling around North Norfolk. Thank you.
The cottage matched the description on the website. It has everything needed for a couple, a family or a small group of friends to have a comfortable stay. We had been concerned about its proximity to the main road but in fact the position of the cottage was such that we were not at all troubled by noise. The location is excellent for exploration on foot or by car. Low tide on the beaches at Holkham, Brancaster, Titchwell, Holme provides miles of beautiful walking, and the Norfolk skies are like nowhere else. Brancaster Staithe is a couple of minutes walk away and has the excellent Crab Hut. The local churches (eg Burnham Deepdale) are lovely and interesting. Holkham Hall is a great visit. Thank you for a lovely stay.
We were really comfortable and a great location near the Staithe and Crab Hut. Walked Miles on the beaches and lots of marshes..Beautiful churches and Grand houses to. A lovely week.
Great Location. Titchwell Marsh and Holme Dunes are very close and great for wildlife. The Jolly Sailors pizzas are lovely and good ales.
