Village
The attractive village of South Creake (twinned with North Creake) has a lovely village green at its heart with the river Burn that runs through. When visiting the village, you will see the much-loved resident ducks crossing the road from the houses for a swim on the river. There is a lovely leafy recreation ground, park and village hall making it the hub of the village. You will often see local produce such as cakes and homegrown vegetables for sale from the small way-side stalls in the village and there is a thriving plant nursery and cafe. There is a welcoming community spirt in the village, making it a perfect place to unwind and take in the Norfolk air.
The Ostrich Inn, dating from the 1800s, has been refurbished to a high standard and now serves delicious locally sourced food in attractive surroundings.
History
On the hill above the village can be found the remnants of Bloodgate Hill fort, an Iron Age fortification that is the largest hill fort in Norfolk. It probably dates back around 300 years before the Romans. Roman coins and pottery have been found in the surrounding farmlands of the village.
Visit
Well worth a visit is Creake Abbey just outside of the village of North Creake with a lovely speciality shops. There is also an award-winning farmers' market on the last Saturday of each month. Close to Fakenham is the Pensthorpe Nature Reserve making for a lovely day out with walks around the lakes, gardens and also great fun for all the family with splendid children’s indoor and outdoor play areas. With the vast sandy beaches of the North Norfolk Coast just a short journey away at Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham, this village is a great base from which to explore North Norfolk.

We loved our stay in Norfolk, we don't want to leave just yet.
We have had the most wonderful stay here at Cornloft Cottage. It's been so very relaxing and peaceful here. The cottage has been beautifully decorated, with attention to detail, with all the little finishing touches. It is very well equipped with everything you can possibly need. The cottage is also very well placed with a short drive to the coast and other places of interest and of course Burnham Market. I feel recharged and hope that we'll be able to return one day. Thank you Hayley for the lovely treats 'chocs, wine etc.' and it was so wonderful to meet up.
This cottage was stunning! So beautifully clean, and homely. We absolutely loved it & felt very comfortable at cornloft cottage! We would 100% stay here again.

Thank you so much for such a lovely place to stay. Everything has ben perfect from accommodation, neighbours, weather, lovely beaches and the food and drink!... What more could we want?
What a lovely cottage to stay in for a sisterly catch up! Very well equipped and beautifully decorated. It was great to be able to show my sister the joys of this part of Norfolk. Two beach walks a day exhausted the dogs and we slept well in the very comfortable beds. Recommend the Duck Inn at Stanhoe, just 10 mins down the road. Definitely book again!
What a wonderful cottage for a break in Norfolk. Beautifully decorated and well equipped. My sister and I had a lovely time with our dogs and can’t wait to go back. The beaches will always be a highlight. Would have been a 5 apart from the separate garden, although the green is just in front of the house.
A great week on the coast. Did loads of walking ans saw some brilliant birds - Pink footed geese arrived in their thousands from Iceland. Very comfortable accommodation - just the job! Thanks very much
Lovely cottage, well equipped. Nice situation looking over the village green. Good position to visit various parts of the coast. We enjoyed The Farmers Arms, North Creake - a real old-fashioned pub! Seeing thousands of Geese arriving from Greenland or the winter
