Possibly one of the prettiest villages in North Norfolk, this Georgian village is within easy access to the North Norfolk Coast, still with a quaint feel, with many trendy shops. The village retains a ‘step back in time’ feel with leafy green trees and picturesque village green. Burnham Market has a traditional post office, book shop and hardware shop as well as beautiful boutiques and lifestyle shops, from the butchers and baker to fine dining and deli’s. There’s a superb fishmonger Gurneys with locally caught seafood including Brancaster mussels and Cromer crab - be sure to try the amazing fresh fishcakes. It’s a lovely village to visit to peruse the shops or even for a bite to eat in one of the restaurants. There are a lot of eateries to choose from… The Hoste for fine dining or afternoon tea, No Twenty9, The Nelson, award-winning Socius, Burnham Tearoom, or Tilly’s Cafe, there’s something to suit every taste. There is also a children’s play park, hard tennis courts and two parish churches one at each end of the village. If in need of a little pampering why not book a treatment or two at The Hoste Beauty Spa.There is also a dog groomer so you can have the best pampered pooch in the village.

With a scenic ride to the coast, you can enjoy lazy days on the beaches of Brancaster or Wells. Alternatively pull on your walking boots and investigate diverse coastal path walks, taking in all the birds and wildlife. Leave the car behind and pop on the Coastal Hopper bus and do a tour from Wells and The Burnhams to Norfolk's west coast. Don't forget to visit Holkham which not only has a superb beach, but majestic Holkham Hall which is well worth a visit: hire a boat on the lake, hop on a bike to explore the woodlands, test your bravery on the rope course, play in the woodland play park, take in the breathtaking rooms and art in the main house or simply enjoy tea and cake in the courtyard cafe. If big houses are your thing there are many others to visit with Houghton Hall and its fantastic sculpture collection, the house and grounds of Royal Sandringham to name a few! Get on the water, there are many activities from kite and windsurfing in Hunstanton, sailing in Brancaster Staithe, seal and boat trips from Brancaster and Wells, or take a beautiful trip on The Coastal Exploration Company and learn about the wildlife, trading and smuggling in the salt marshes or along the coast.

Guest reviews

We enjoyed another lovely weekend in Norfolk, made all the better by the home comforts of Burnham Loft. : Despite leaving snow behind in Yorkshire we had two lovely sunny days, allowing us to enjoy walks on the beaches at Holkham and Thornham. We ate at The Hoste Arms, in Burnham Market, and The White Horse, in Brancaster Staithe; both were excellent.

The Ellis's, 15th of March 2023

This is an excellent, large, warm, exceptionally central first-floor apartment suitable for one couple. Remarkable wooden carvings. We've stayed twice and will return.

The Greaves, 9th of December 2022

This is our second stay in this very comfortable apartment. It was lovely place to return to after a long walk. We had our first visit to the Walled Garden at Holkam Hall. Even though it's late in the season the garden looked beautiful and I can't wait to see it in the Summer..

The Brewers, 31st of August 2018

Wow, what a great place to stay in Burnham Market. Very private but couldn’t have been more central, right on the Green. The Loft is bright and airy, and BIG and very well set up and luxurious. Lovely comfortable bed, great bathroom with roll top bath and separate walk in shower. Living area was wonderful, in fact the whole place just took our breath away. We had been told how lovely it was but it surpassed all our expectations, especially as the weather was great too and we were able to take full advantage of the decking area with its wall to wall sunshine. Will definitely look to stay there again if we are in that area and have already waxed lyrical about it to all our friends and family. 5star+ Many thanks to Paul at Sowerbys for sorting out the beeping smoke alarm with a new battery.
