Village
Possibly one of the prettiest villages in North Norfolk, this Georgian village is within easy access to the North Norfolk Coast, still with a quaint feel, with many trendy shops. The village retains a ‘step back in time’ feel with leafy green trees and picturesque village green. Burnham Market has a traditional post office, book shop and hardware shop as well as beautiful boutiques and lifestyle shops, from the butchers and baker to fine dining and deli’s. There’s a superb fishmonger Gurneys with locally caught seafood including Brancaster mussels and Cromer crab - be sure to try the amazing fresh fishcakes. It’s a lovely village to visit to peruse the shops or even for a bite to eat in one of the restaurants. There are a lot of eateries to choose from… The Hoste for fine dining or afternoon tea, No Twenty9, The Nelson, award-winning Socius, Burnham Tearoom, or Tilly’s Cafe, there’s something to suit every taste. There is also a children’s play park, hard tennis courts and two parish churches one at each end of the village. If in need of a little pampering why not book a treatment or two at The Hoste Beauty Spa.There is also a dog groomer so you can have the best pampered pooch in the village.
Visit
With a scenic ride to the coast, you can enjoy lazy days on the beaches of Brancaster or Wells. Alternatively pull on your walking boots and investigate diverse coastal path walks, taking in all the birds and wildlife. Leave the car behind and pop on the Coastal Hopper bus and do a tour from Wells and The Burnhams to Norfolk's west coast. Don't forget to visit Holkham which not only has a superb beach, but majestic Holkham Hall which is well worth a visit: hire a boat on the lake, hop on a bike to explore the woodlands, test your bravery on the rope course, play in the woodland play park, take in the breathtaking rooms and art in the main house or simply enjoy tea and cake in the courtyard cafe. If big houses are your thing there are many others to visit with Houghton Hall and its fantastic sculpture collection, the house and grounds of Royal Sandringham to name a few! Get on the water, there are many activities from kite and windsurfing in Hunstanton, sailing in Brancaster Staithe, seal and boat trips from Brancaster and Wells, or take a beautiful trip on The Coastal Exploration Company and learn about the wildlife, trading and smuggling in the salt marshes or along the coast.

Most enjoyable stay in quaint, charming, generally well equipped old cottage conveniently located close to village centre. Generally nostalgic exploration of the beautiful N Norfolk coastline, and the many excellent restaurants in the area.
Our second stay in Bluebell Cottage. It's a very comfortable 'home from home' with a lovely courtyard garden. Plus features for us, compared to some other cottages we've stayed in in Burnham Market: no low doorways; the stair is wide; the bathroom sink is full-sized. It's a lovely cottage with a well-kept mature courtyard garden where we enjoyed the peace and the wonderfil coastal air. It's perfectly situated for enjoying the village and for trips out to anywhere in North Norfolk.
We were very pleased to be able to hire this cottage at short notice as our booked accommodation was not up to standard. This cottage was very clean and is obviously well kept. We were able to use the heating and appreciated having someone on hand to help us with that.
Thank you for a beautiful stay. Everything was perfect, from the setting to the perfectly prepared cottage. We would definitely like a return to Bluebell. A big thank you!:)
The sun came out and we got to see North Norfolk at its finest! A lovely stay @Bluebell Cottage
Has everything you could possibly need and more. The owner made it feel Christmasy, even leaving mince pies.
We have booked holiday cottages with Sowerbys several times and the properties are always of a very high standard. The location was perfect and we felt comfortable and 'at home' immediately. Once again, we have enjoyed a tremendous week in Burnham Market and are always delighted to stay in one of your properties.
Very well equipped and thoughtful touches. Home from home
Its was better than we expected. 10 out of 10 for cleanliness and 10 out of 10 for the garden. It was very cosy and had a lovely character.

A perfect little cottage for 2 adults. It was very well equipped and in a great location, close to everything.. We loved the little walled garden and the outdoor seating. The owner was very welcoming and the cottage was immaculate.
