Beaches
Great for families and on the Norfolk coastal path with two great beaches on the West coast overlooking The Wash: North beach and South beach (aka Stubborn Sands) are both dog friendly and form a huge 20 mile bay and enjoy the most dramatic sunsets. A perfect spot to watch the sun going down and hit the sea on a fine evening. The village enjoys a range of small shops, arcade, cafe and fish bar. There are three local pubs The West Norfolk, Fox and Hounds and Bushel and Strike.
Village
Famous for its Norfolk Lavender with aromatic gardens and fields filled with all varieties of lavender. With their own oil distillery, products, tearoom and animal garden and play park. Just next door is Farmer Freds Adventure Play Barn for children and parents to enjoy indoor play farm themed fun, as well as a great Farm Shop selling lovely local produce.
If keeping mind and body in check is your cup of tea, then a visit to Heacham Manor where you can dine, spa or book a round of golf on the lake side championship 18-hole course.
History
Famed for association with Pocahontas, the Rolfe family are the most famous inhabitants of Heacham, from the 16th century. After seeking adventure in The New World it was John Rolfe who married the Native American Rebecca (Pocahontas), and along with their 2 year old son took them back to his family home the former Heacham Hall. The image of Pocahontas adorns the village sign and also the St Mary's the Virgin Church.
Visit
For a great family day out and only a few miles away is Snettisham Park Farm. A working Farm with lovely activities for the family from egg collecting, bottle feeding lambs and pony rides to a ‘not to be missed’ deer Safari.
There are plenty of wildlife spectacles to explore, with tens of thousands of wading birds to observe from the hides at Snettisham Nature Reserve.
Hunstanton Town is just 3 miles from Heacham and is a traditional seaside town with the added addition of fun water sports such as kite surfing and windsurfing.
A visit to Sandringham House, gardens and country park is a popular destination for all. Whether you simply want to take the pooch for a stroll, or discover the royals much loved country retreat, you’ll have the grandest of days.

We had a very relaxing stay at Beachcomber. It was lovely being so close to the beach so we could pop down when we wanted. The cottage had a lovely beach vibe and was very comfortable. Everyone loved the beds!
Another wonderful week at "Beachcomber "...amazing sunsets and lots of beach walks with my 2 labradors, who loved chasing their balls in the big enclosed garden. Thank you. Highlights sunsets and the beach directly on the doorstep for walks.
The best thing was the location of the cottage to the beach with two young children in our party it was ideal. The cottage was well equipped with quality equipment and furnishings the only thing I would say is it would have been good to have some BBQ utensils to go with the BBQ.Plenty to see and do in the area we particularly enjoyed our visits to Sandringham an Holkham Hall.
Felt like home. Quietness, nice beds and bedding, logfire. thank you for the wine!
Beach walks with the dogs.Sunsets.Good pub grub. Had a fantastic stay (again).
We first came to Beachcomber when the kids were small and returned a number of years. Having had a bit of a break (teenagers, house not big enough!), we came back with our now adult daughter and partner and it was perfect! So clean and well appointed, felt like coming home! Thank you for a lovely long weekend, we are looking forward to repeating the stay in the Autumn/Winter. Beautifully clean, weather for Feb was exceptional. Everything in the house was so well appointed and comfortable. Just a thank you.
Beachcomber has everything you need for a fabulous holiday but No 1 must be the location 👍
We had a lovely week at Beachcomber. The house is cosy, well-equipped and perfect for a beach holiday. We loved the location. The gorgeous conservatory gave fabulous extra space. Fabulous en-suite bathrooms! We would highly recommend it if you want a peaceful stay.
Loved the supply of books and jigsaw puzzles too. Also was impressed that umbrellas were available (not that we needed them fortunately) but a nice thought. We also liked the welcome gift.
Thank you to the owner - this was a lovely place to stay with nice quality items but a really easy going feel. Also very happy with service provided by Sowerbys. This was our third booking through Sowerbys and will definitely come back again.
Beachcomber was an absolute joy, the location was amazing, out of the house and straight on the beach with the dogs every morning. Such a cosy, comfy house with everything you could possibly need. Our dogs Elvis and Rhona had the best time. We will definitely be back. The location is amazing.
Really quiet. Big enclosed garden for the dogs. Felt like home the minute we walked in.
We have stayed in Heacham many times and this was probably the 5/6 time to Beachcomber. Which is our favourite. Fantastic location and very peaceful, lovely cottage and furnishing is of extremely high quality. There are lots of things to do & places to visit nearby. Perfect for our purpose. Surprisingly spacious, small but well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable and homely. Would hope to visit at least once a year.
It's a lovely property and the setting is idyllic. It felt like being somewhere like Maine in the States rather than the Wash! Probably helped that we had such nice weather. What a gorgeous property!
