Village

Possibly one of the prettiest villages in North Norfolk, this Georgian village is within easy access to the North Norfolk Coast, still with a quaint feel, with many trendy shops. The village retains a ‘step back in time’ feel with leafy green trees and picturesque village green. Burnham Market has a traditional post office, book shop and hardware shop as well as beautiful boutiques and lifestyle shops, from the butchers and baker to fine dining and deli’s. There’s a superb fishmonger Gurneys with locally caught seafood including Brancaster mussels and Cromer crab - be sure to try the amazing fresh fishcakes. It’s a lovely village to visit to peruse the shops or even for a bite to eat in one of the restaurants. There are a lot of eateries to choose from… The Hoste for fine dining or afternoon tea, No Twenty9, The Nelson, award-winning Socius, Burnham Tearoom, or Tilly’s Cafe, there’s something to suit every taste. There is also a children’s play park, hard tennis courts and two parish churches one at each end of the village. If in need of a little pampering why not book a treatment or two at The Hoste Beauty Spa.There is also a dog groomer so you can have the best pampered pooch in the village.

Visit

With a scenic ride to the coast, you can enjoy lazy days on the beaches of Brancaster or Wells. Alternatively pull on your walking boots and investigate diverse coastal path walks, taking in all the birds and wildlife. Leave the car behind and pop on the Coastal Hopper bus and do a tour from Wells and The Burnhams to Norfolk's west coast. Don't forget to visit Holkham which not only has a superb beach, but majestic Holkham Hall which is well worth a visit: hire a boat on the lake, hop on a bike to explore the woodlands, test your bravery on the rope course, play in the woodland play park, take in the breathtaking rooms and art in the main house or simply enjoy tea and cake in the courtyard cafe. If big houses are your thing there are many others to visit with Houghton Hall and its fantastic sculpture collection, the house and grounds of Royal Sandringham to name a few! Get on the water, there are many activities from kite and windsurfing in Hunstanton, sailing in Brancaster Staithe, seal and boat trips from Brancaster and Wells, or take a beautiful trip on The Coastal Exploration Company and learn about the wildlife, trading and smuggling in the salt marshes or along the coast.

The excellent accommodation: Clean, well-equipped and spacious. Comfortable and cosy.: Perfect car parking at Aspall Escape. Very well placed for walking to Burnham Market and travelling by car to various areas of the coast.

Susannah and Ronald, 6th of September 2024

Great little bolthole, 10 minutes walk to the village green & shops.Complete open plan space with spiral staircase (not suitable for children or those with mobility issues), large upstairs bedroom and shower room, downstairs kitchen and lounge area. Very well equipped. We had a hot week! So the air con was a bonus. The welcome pack was lovely.

The Allen-Taylor's, 29th of August 2024

Ideal location to explore the North Norfolk coast. We enjoy the local restaurants and coffee shops as well as supporting shops like Gurneys and Humble Pie, Gun Hill. The coastliner bus service allows us days off from driving whilst we can walk to Holkham and Wells and get the bus back to Burnham Market.Parking is easy at the cottage and it is beautifully appointed, clean and welcoming. We enjoyed meeting friends at Socius for a superb Sunday roast. Number Twenty9 has a very buzzy vibe and excellent food. Breakfast at Tilly’s is a must and it’s a treat to have all these within a very short walking distance.

Perfect little cottage, it had everything we needed - and more! The air con in the bedroom was a welcome addition, especially as we had hot weather while we were there. The bed was amazingly comfortable, we both slept really well. We loved the secluded courtyard as well.
