Village
Possibly one of the prettiest villages in North Norfolk, this Georgian village is within easy access to the North Norfolk Coast, still with a quaint feel, with many trendy shops. The village retains a ‘step back in time’ feel with leafy green trees and picturesque village green. Burnham Market has a traditional post office, book shop and hardware shop as well as beautiful boutiques and lifestyle shops, from the butchers and baker to fine dining and deli’s. There’s a superb fishmonger Gurneys with locally caught seafood including Brancaster mussels and Cromer crab - be sure to try the amazing fresh fishcakes. It’s a lovely village to visit to peruse the shops or even for a bite to eat in one of the restaurants. There are a lot of eateries to choose from… The Hoste for fine dining or afternoon tea, No Twenty9, The Nelson, award-winning Socius, Burnham Tearoom, or Tilly’s Cafe, there’s something to suit every taste. There is also a children’s play park, hard tennis courts and two parish churches one at each end of the village. If in need of a little pampering why not book a treatment or two at The Hoste Beauty Spa.There is also a dog groomer so you can have the best pampered pooch in the village.
Visit
With a scenic ride to the coast, you can enjoy lazy days on the beaches of Brancaster or Wells. Alternatively pull on your walking boots and investigate diverse coastal path walks, taking in all the birds and wildlife. Leave the car behind and pop on the Coastal Hopper bus and do a tour from Wells and The Burnhams to Norfolk's west coast. Don't forget to visit Holkham which not only has a superb beach, but majestic Holkham Hall which is well worth a visit: hire a boat on the lake, hop on a bike to explore the woodlands, test your bravery on the rope course, play in the woodland play park, take in the breathtaking rooms and art in the main house or simply enjoy tea and cake in the courtyard cafe. If big houses are your thing there are many others to visit with Houghton Hall and its fantastic sculpture collection, the house and grounds of Royal Sandringham to name a few! Get on the water, there are many activities from kite and windsurfing in Hunstanton, sailing in Brancaster Staithe, seal and boat trips from Brancaster and Wells, or take a beautiful trip on The Coastal Exploration Company and learn about the wildlife, trading and smuggling in the salt marshes or along the coast.

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful cosy well equipped little cottage. It looks tiny from the outside but quite spacious for the four of us plus the pooch. The beds were super comfy and the shower room is fantastic. We would definitely come back to this cottage in the future as it was a good base to explore the area from. A welcome pack would be a good bonus. We had a lovely time at Brancaster, Holkham and Wells. We had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Ffolkes in Hillington and we also went for breakfast which was also great. It was good to just walk into the village to the shops. The kids really enjoyed visiting Mables sweet shop.
The cottage was lovely & cosy. Very well presented with lovely decor throughout. The little yard to the front was a suntrap. Burnham Market is a stunning village 2 miles inland from the coast. Well located & well stocked. No regular shopping , only independent exclusive trading established for many years. Charming, but you will need to drive for your basics. Easy to locate & parking outside.Exploring the beautiful Norfolk coastline & stunning villages. The wells to Walsingham railway was utterly charming. Walsingham village, Abbey & shrine were very special with an ancient & spiritual atmosphere Eric's pizzas were a turn up! gorgeous! lovely place to dine out in the sun. The garlic bread was the best ever eaten. The mermaid fish & chips were nice. The seal boat trip was fab.
Our third visit to 3 Lavender Cottage. Beautifully clean and smelled lovely on entering. Like the new paint colour, looks warm and inviting. Well equipped, super shower. Glad to have a little courtyard to sit in and it's very peaceful and quiet. Good bus service, very clean and considerate drivers. Enjoyed visiting Burnham Thorpe, Nelson's birthplace, where there is a good walking trail of about two miles and interesting and moving notices in the church about his life. Also recommend Picnic Fayre in Cley.
This is our third stay at the cottage. It is very comfortable and has all the amenities we required. We were extremely lucky with the weather and we were lucky enough to get a trip round Wells harbour on the Lucy Lavers Dunkirk ship. We also parked up at Holkham and Walked to the beach huts at Wells.
We had Sunday Lunch at the Hero in Burnham Overy Staithe which was superb. Our best experience was lunch at The Crab House in Wells. Advisable to book in advance.
clean and cosy cottage, great location, quiet and peaceful. Thank you.
A perfect little cottage, delivered on what we needed.
A lovely warm cottage, well equipped and cosy. Easy walk to village centre and your own parking spaces.Soft and fluffy towels I loved and the shower room is surprisingly large and nicely done.Be aware that there is another Lavender Cottage close by when trying to find the accommodation at first and the stairs are a little steep (nothing too bad) but it’s a lovely conveniently placed cottage. Nice meals in The Hoste, The Hero in Burnham Overy Staithe and Lord Nelson in Burnham Thorpe.
We enjoyed visits to Sandringham, Houghton Hall to see the Antony Gormley exhibit and Holkam Hall. They are not open every day so plan well if you want to go! We liked the light railway from Wells to Walsingham and had amazing scones at Read & Digest in Walsingham! Wells next the Sea has to be seen too. Holt worth a visit - not on Mondays when many places closed.
A short but pleasant stay. Comfortable and nice walk into the village. Nice staying in the village with all the local amenities.
Lovely warm well equipped cottage conveniently located for village centre.
Lovely clean cottage with handy off street parking. We got the bus to Wells next the sea and had a gorgeous lunch in the Wells crab house. It is advisable to book in advance.
3 Lavender Cottage is a very quaint well equipped cottage. Lots of nice little touches such as candles, nice hand soaps and lotions and fluffy towels and nice white cotton bedding. We enjoyed being able to walk into Burnham Market with all the lovely independent shops and eateries. As we have a dog The Hoste was our favourite place to eat and drink as the bar area was very buzzy and welcoming. Unfortunately we had dreadful weather so we were not able to enjoy a glass of wine in the garden at the cottage.
A delightful and well equipped cottage, beautifully positioned to visit the wonderful North Norfolk coast. Only a short walk from the centre of Burnham Market with its fabulous choice of shops and restaurants. Wonderful coastal walks at Brancaster and Wells Next the Sea. RSPB Titchwell and Blakeney Marshes are great for bird watching.
The cottage was lovely and had everything we wanted. The off street parking is a huge bonus as was the wi-fi. We managed to watch the final day of the Edgbaston Ashes Test match. The furniture and the beds were very comfortable, and the stable door is a nice feature. Although the garden is quite small it is South facing and makes a nice sun trap. The garden furniture was also very nice.
A really simple but nice cottage in a convenient location
