Village

Possibly one of the prettiest villages in North Norfolk, this Georgian village is within easy access to the North Norfolk Coast, still with a quaint feel, with many trendy shops. The village retains a ‘step back in time’ feel with leafy green trees and picturesque village green. Burnham Market has a traditional post office, book shop and hardware shop as well as beautiful boutiques and lifestyle shops, from the butchers and baker to fine dining and deli’s. There’s a superb fishmonger Gurneys with locally caught seafood including Brancaster mussels and Cromer crab - be sure to try the amazing fresh fishcakes. It’s a lovely village to visit to peruse the shops or even for a bite to eat in one of the restaurants. There are a lot of eateries to choose from… The Hoste for fine dining or afternoon tea, No Twenty9, The Nelson, award-winning Socius, Burnham Tearoom, or Tilly’s Cafe, there’s something to suit every taste. There is also a children’s play park, hard tennis courts and two parish churches one at each end of the village. If in need of a little pampering why not book a treatment or two at The Hoste Beauty Spa.There is also a dog groomer so you can have the best pampered pooch in the village.

Visit

With a scenic ride to the coast, you can enjoy lazy days on the beaches of Brancaster or Wells. Alternatively pull on your walking boots and investigate diverse coastal path walks, taking in all the birds and wildlife. Leave the car behind and pop on the Coastal Hopper bus and do a tour from Wells and The Burnhams to Norfolk's west coast. Don't forget to visit Holkham which not only has a superb beach, but majestic Holkham Hall which is well worth a visit: hire a boat on the lake, hop on a bike to explore the woodlands, test your bravery on the rope course, play in the woodland play park, take in the breathtaking rooms and art in the main house or simply enjoy tea and cake in the courtyard cafe. If big houses are your thing there are many others to visit with Houghton Hall and its fantastic sculpture collection, the house and grounds of Royal Sandringham to name a few! Get on the water, there are many activities from kite and windsurfing in Hunstanton, sailing in Brancaster Staithe, seal and boat trips from Brancaster and Wells, or take a beautiful trip on The Coastal Exploration Company and learn about the wildlife, trading and smuggling in the salt marshes or along the coast.

Lovely Cottage for our holidays, perfect for the 6 of us and 2 dogs. Loved the walks at Holkham beach and Hall. Thank you.

The Longs and Halletts, 30th of December 2023

Cottage was clean, comfortable and as we would expect it to be. Easily positioned for a stroll round Burnham Market.

The Mirza's, 6th of September 2023

We had a great time at Railway Cottage. The cottage was clean and spacious. A large, open plan living space downstairs was particularly spacious with comfortable seating for a large family. En suite bathrooms to all 3 bedrooms went down very well with our children.
We were particularly lucky with the weather. A couple of very brief periods of light rain when the rest of the country was receiving prolonged downpours. This helped us to get outside everyday exploring local coastal paths and beaches at Brancaster, Holkham, Wells and Weybourne. We also had a couple of interesting shopping days in Holt and Norwich. The beaches were a particular highlight…spacious and dog friendly. The pubs were also very welcoming. We particularly enjoyed eating at the Hoste Arms (twice!).

The Gerald's, 5th of September 2023

A very cute cottage in a good location, and the fact that it has 3 bathrooms made it perfect for us. We liked the style, the thoughtful arrival package, the coffee machine - all nice touches.Easy access to the best spots in North Norfolk.

The Lodges, 18th of August 2023

A lovely week spent in the cottage with trips to local beaches and parks to walk with Dotty the dog. Food in the Hoste was great, it gets busy so book in advance.

The Geldard family, 28th of July 2023

Beautiful cottage, perfectly equipped and ideally located to explore North Norfolk. Such a lovely stay thank you.

The Smiths and Simmonds, 19th of June 2023

K Blower, 9th of June 2023

This is a lovely place to stay. All of the family enjoyed the break and the home was comfortable and clean. Easy walk to the local town which has nice places to eat and drink. Would recommend the Chinese and chip shop next to this place!
