Village
The village is notable as magnet for foodies and day trippers with seriously good shopping. You may of heard of the ‘not to be missed’ Eric’s Fish and Chips, where you can enjoy a beer with your meal and children love the desserts, a fried jam sandwich, or ice cream where they can help themselves to tasty toppings. Thornham Deli, cafe and store is also great for a browse or bite to eat and it's next door to the Village Hall and play park. History
Thornham is named after the Old English meaning ‘homestead or village where the thorn trees grow’. The village has a rich history and many of the buildings date back to the 16th Century. Archaeological evidence dates as far back as the Bronze Age. The village had a prosperous harbour 200 years ago and a fascinating story of a smugglers Inn and a bandit’s hideout.

Lovely quiet location. Great layout of property. Easy to keep clean. Beautiful big garden. We enjoyed Thornham, tennis, beaches, restaurants.
We always enjoy our stays here, it's tranquil and not overlooked, comfortable and unfussy. Proximity to the coastal path means that we can enjoy our frequent strolls to the beach or saltmarsh very quickly. Our stay highlight is always the first walk to the beach on Saturday morning with a bacon bap from the Holme Dunes cafe before heading back.
Another stay in this comfortable house, which suits our family's needs. This was our third visit in 3 years -- this time blessed by glorious weather. The beaches, perfect for the dog, and the convenience of having restaurants and pubs close at hand in such a pretty village. We have always enjoyed our stays at 2 Hunts Cottages, and look forward to doing so again in 2025.
Comfortable cottage well positioned away from the main road. Lovely big garden at the back. We are regular visitors to Thornham and managed to play mini golf in Hunstanton, visit Houghton Hall, great Sunday lunch at King's Arms in Great Bircham, day out in Burnham Market with friends. We joined Searles in Hunstanton to use the gym and outdoor swimming pool.
Lovely well equipped holiday home. Perfect quiet location on the coast with fabulous walks from the door. Within walking distance to pubs Thornham Deli and Drove Orchard great for food and shopping.
Walking the Norfolk Coastal Path from the door
Great location in a lovely village. Highlights were walks along the nearby paths, and watching the barn owls. Good back garden.
Another memorable stay at 2 Hunts Cottages - really enjoyed ourselves. The wild geese flying over the cottage, the wonderful walks, the 'big' skies, brilliant meals out, the cosy feel of coming back to the warmth of the cottage after a day exploring. Very comfortable cottage in a perfect position for dog walks. We loved being able to walk straight from front door onto the coast path, great Sunday lunch at Orange Tree, Eric's fish and chips, Hero in Burnham Overy Staithe and Dun Cow in Salthouse
What a lovely place to stay, with easy access to the salt marshes and coal shed and other beaches and places to see. The garden is beautiful and really good with the dogs as it is enclosed and the property position is really nice and quiet. The Orange Tree is a fabulous place to eat and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Walking around the salt marshes in a heavy sea mist. Seeing the owls in the fields opposite the entrance to Hunts Cottages - just wonderful!
A lovely cottage in a great location. The dog walks were excellent as were the beaches in the area. Also lovely pubs nearby.
This is the second time we have stayed at 2 Hunts Cottages and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in the lovely village of Thornham. Our favourite place to stay in North Norfolk. The weather proved to be much better than forecast which enabled us to have good dog walks and visit the beach on several occasions including a couple of swims in the North Sea. The Lifeboat and Orange Tree were also visited more than once.
We had a lovely week in bright, peaceful cottage in a great location.
Our latest stay of several at this lovely cottage - bliss as always. Such a wonderful feel to the place, and ideally located for the delights of the north Norfolk coast. Thoroughly recommended. The peace and quiet, the lovely beaches and walks, great eating-out places and wonderful bird watching reserves.
Lovely cottage as usual. Really nice garden. I lost a gold cross and chain. It would be helpful to know if it has been handed in if someone could contact me. Thank you. Trips to the beach, Walsingham Abbey and Castle Rising, Holt and trips to restaurants. Very peaceful.
The location of the house is excellent. There are walks from the door and resident barn owls in the field opposite which we enjoyed watching. You can walk to RSPB Titchwell in one direction and along the coast path to Old Hunstanton and beyond the other. There are 2 great pubs in the village, a short distance away. We had good meals in each. Drove Orchard and Thornham Deli are great for supplies but there's also supermarkets a short drive away in Hunstanton.
