Lantern Cottage is a traditional 2-bedroom bungalow, perfectly located in the heart of the highly sought after coastal village of Burnham Overy Staithe. Within a minutes walk from the creek, and 30 seconds from the local pub, it is a very secluded detached property set well back from the coastal road, concealed behind secure high wooden gates with the great advantage of fully enclosed dog and child-proof front and back gardens. There is a large gravel front drive - the cottage has ample off-street parking for 2-3 cars (and a boat), and a south facing rear garden with a patio area. The owners have thoughtfully stocked it with everything a family of 4 or 2 couples could need for a sailing/beach/walking/bird-watching week, including teddies for kids, games for wet days, dog towels/dog blankets and picnic/beach stuff. Lantern Cottage is also an ideal place for the less mobile guest, being all on one floor and having a wet room easily accessed from the double bedroom. It is ideally suited to those seeking a warm and comfortable, well-equipped 'family home from home experience', rather than those seeking a more contemporary 'boutique' hotel holiday! It has oil-fired central heating with double glazing throughout, making this a warm, cozy and comfrotable place to stay throughout the year.

All on ground floor

Entrance hall: with space for coats and wellies, dog towel, umbrellas etc., leading into......

Bright and spacious open plan L-shaped sitting/dining/kitchen area with 2 sets of double patio doors opening out to the front and back gardens.

Sitting/dining room: with a large 3 seater sofa and 2 armchairs, freeview digital TV, land line phone (on an honesty box basis) with free wi-fi/broadband. Dining room has a dining table (seats 6 when extended) and chairs. It leads into....

Kitchen: an exceptionally well-equipped kitchen with marble work-surfaces, electric double oven, halogen hob, huge fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a microwave. (Washing machine and a tumble dryer in the out-house - see below). A walk-in kitchen cupboard contains beach stuff (wind break, buckets and spades, beach games, picnic bag essentials etc) and a whole heap more for guests to use. The owners stock up tea and coffee and a few staples.

Bedroom 1: light, airy, recently updated, furnished in oak, king-size bed, bedside cabinets/drawers and bedside reading lamps. Large double glazed patio doors open out to a secluded front garden patio area with bench and table, ideal for 'al fresco' breakfasts or brunches. Internally, double doors open from the bedroom into the ensuite wet room containing a wall mounted power shower, hand basin and loo.

Bedroom 2: furnished in ash, with twin beds, teddies (for old - and young - at heart), bedside tables with reading lamps, a double wardrobe and a dressing table with stool.

Family/Main Bathroom: next to bedroom 2 and is a large room with a free-standing roll top bath, shower attachment, hand basin and loo. There is a built-in mirrored double fronted wardrobe for additional storage.


Lantern Cottage is quietly located off the coastal road behind high wooden gates with a large gravelled front drive with ample parking for cars and boats. With the staithe at Burnham Overy only a minute's walk away this is a perfect location for sailors, walkers, twitchers or anyone wanting to enjoy the beauty of the stunning harbour and maybe follow the coastal path to the glorious sandy beaches at Scolt Head (about a 30 minute walk). The gravelled front and back garden areas are secure and enclosed, with mature shrubbery, trees and bird feeders which local and migrating birds frequent - a safe place for children and pets. The exceptionally sunny south-facing back garden is partially paved and laid to gravel and contains bird tables and feeders, a water feature (controlled from inside), outside furniture with parasol and a barbecue.

Secure Out-house: at the front which contains a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Storage for bikes at bike-owners' risk.

3 night break: 70% of full week price
4 night break: 80% of full week price
5 night break: 90% of full week price

3/4/5 day short breaks are not usually available during school holiday periods.

Prices may be subject to change.

Please note that where dogs are permitted the standard charge is £20.00 per week or part week; however some cottage owners request a higher amount and this will be specified in the individual property description.
