Village

A small village hamlet which is one of seven Burnham villages named after the river Burn. This pretty little village is a walkers' paradise, placed on the edge of Norton Marsh which has a plethora of birds and wildlife making it an ideal quiet spot for bird watchers and those looking for a retreat. There are no shops, but there is a pretty round tower church and a little car park in Burnham Norton. Go on a superb 40 minute walk through the fields and marshes to the deserted Norton Beach.  During low tide the keen adventurers amongst you may wish to make your way across the waters to Scolt Head Island. The village is on many great little walking routes through The Burnhams, Wells, and Brancaster Coastal Path Walks. You can even leave the car and pop onto the Coastal Hopper bus that passes through the village.

The nearby larger village of Burnham Market is the stylish go to destination with a great selection of independent shops and boutiques ranging from lifestyle and clothing, as well as traditional butcher, hardware store and bakers to delis and galleries. There are also some great eateries and bars to cater for all tastes.

For family fun the beaches of Brancaster and Wells are superb. The North Norfolk Coast has a lot of wildlife and nature reserves including Cley, Holme, Titchwell and Snetttisham. The grand estates of Holkham, Houghton and Sandringham make wonderful days out for all to enjoy. The Norfolk Coast and country has many local farm shops and farmers markets. Creake Abbey in North Creake is just 3 miles from Burnham Market and has a range of homemade produce, meats and vegetables in two barns along with a farmers market held on the first Saturday of each month. Nearby the village of Docking holds a farmers market on a Wednesday morning, supporting local food producers in the Village Hall. On the 4th Sunday of each month you can pick up supplies from the royal residence of Sandringham Hall as well as many local homemade produce and crafts at the Sandringham Visitors Centre. There are also farm shops in Thornham, Walsingham, Wiveton and Heacham.
