A perfect spot to watch the sun going down and hit the sea on a fine evening. The village enjoys a range of small shops, arcade, cafe and fish bar. There are three local pubs The West Norfolk, Fox and Hounds and Bushel and Strike.

Just next door is Farmer Freds Adventure Play Barn for children and parents to enjoy indoor play farm themed fun, as well as a great Farm Shop selling lovely local produce.

If keeping mind and body in check is your cup of tea, then a visit to Heacham Manor where you can dine, spa or book a round of golf on the lake side championship 18-hole course.

History

Famed for association with Pocahontas, the Rolfe family are the most famous inhabitants of Heacham, from the 16th century. After seeking adventure in The New World it was John Rolfe who married the Native American Rebecca (Pocahontas), and along with their 2 year old son took them back to his family home the former Heacham Hall. The image of Pocahontas adorns the village sign and also the St Mary's the Virgin Church.

Visit

For a great family day out and only a few miles away is Snettisham Park Farm. A working Farm with lovely activities for the family from egg collecting, bottle feeding lambs and pony rides to a ‘not to be missed’ deer Safari.

There are plenty of wildlife spectacles to explore, with tens of thousands of wading birds to observe from the hides at Snettisham Nature Reserve.

Hunstanton Town is just 3 miles from Heacham and is a traditional seaside town with the added addition of fun water sports such as kite surfing and windsurfing.

A visit to Sandringham House, gardens and country park is a popular destination for all. Whether you simply want to take the pooch for a stroll, or discover the royals much loved country retreat, you’ll have the grandest of days.

The owner has thought of everything that is needed to stay at Washington Lodge, and this ensured a truly relaxing stay. Clean property, comfy beds, tranquil location and the beach only a few strides away make this a little gem of a holiday rental. With comfy beds and lounge area really well laid out, and the garden is a super sunny spot too! Thank you for allowing us to stay in such a super property.

A lovely house and beautiful place to stay, we really enjoyed it!

Kemp Party, 23rd of August 2019

It was a really lovely homey caravan. The location was amazing. The treats on arrival were a really nice touch. The towels were all brand new which was also nice. The furnishings and fittings were nicer than most static caravans and it was spotlessly clean. The location was right in the dunes on the beach, quiet setting, very clean/smart. We would stay again!

Pfrang Party, 9th of August 2019

Williamson family, 28th of June 2019

Just a note to let you know how much we have enjoyed our stay at Washington Lodge. We love its location with the beach just the other side of the dunes and the roar of the sea which can be heard from the lounge area. Our dogs have enjoyed sunning themselves on the verandah and we've had peace of mind knowing that this area is totally enclosed. All the facilities have everything you need: showers, microwave, comfy bed, fridge and also all nice and clean. We really didn't want to go home! Rest assured we WILL be back!

Jason and Lisa Holmes, 17th of June 2019

Our stay was amazing. We loved the doors opening onto the verandah and you could even hear the sea. So peaceful sitting in the lounge hearing the waves crashing. The lodge felt so homely and the location is peaceful and relaxing. We didn’t want to go home!
