Skeet Cottage Burnham Market New

Sleeps 6, from £820 to £1600 per week

Skeet Cottage is a charming Georgian 3-storey cottage with a wealth of original features, carefully renovated to convert two cottages into one lovely holiday home. On the ground floor there's a superb new kitchen, an attractive beamed sitting room, a separate spacious dining room and a shower room. The first floor has two bedrooms and a family bathroom, with a further two double bedrooms on the top floor. There are four Norfolk winder staircases in the cottage, making it unsuitable for less mobile guests. Former guests have said "the love and care poured into Skeet Cottage is obvious to all lucky enough to stay". There is an attractive enclosed rear courtyard garden and it is located a minute's walk from Burnham Market's village green and a great selection of shops and restaurants.

Please note this is a provisional listing awaiting confirmation by the owner.

Guest Reviews

Just wanted to say the cottage was perfect - it met/exceeded our expectations in all regards. The owners have clearly put in a lot of time and effort into the decor/furnishings and have done a great job!

The Turners - 10/07/2015

Thank you very much for a wonderful stay again! What a fab place to spend New Year – we’ve made good use of all of the beautiful local beaches, great for a 4 year old boy and a dog! Cley beach made it for us on 2nd Jan – we had a great walk and a great lunch in Cookies of cley, then saw 2 seals. Happy New Year and a great 2015.

Steve, Jackie, Adam and Julie - 03/01/2015

Another excellent Christmas at Burnham and Skeet. Very good weather, lots of good places to eat, eg. The Hoste, The White Horse, The Orange Tree and lots of walks. The cottage was as wonderful as ever, so many thanks for looking after us. See you in the Summer.

Ted, Catherine and Archie - 23/12/2014

Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely cottage. A beautiful cottage in a lovely village and we would love to return very soon.

Carolyn, Phill, Laura and Freddie. - 28/11/2014

Our second visit to Skeet Cottage, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We found some new places to explore and the weather has been lovely – a bonus in October! The cottage is lovely, as before – a characterful and comfortable home. Many thanks.

Thank you for a great welcome in your lovely cottage. Champagne and chocolates much appreciated, especially as we were celebrating a birthday this weekend! We’ve enjoyed the food and the views at The White Horse, Brancaster Staithe, the coffee and views at Blakeney Hotel, and the food at The Hero, Burnham Overy Staithe looked good although we only stopped for drinks! Altogether, a very enjoyable visit. Thank you!

Sheffield family - 10/10/2014

Many thanks for the use of your stunning Skeet Cottage! A wonderful property in a great location. We all enjoyed being only 10 minutes drive from three great dog-friendly beaches. All the best.

A fantastic stay in a beautiful cottage. Going home feeling totally relaxed! Everything we could have wanted. A very big thank you.

Kelly, Martyn and Imogen - 09/05/2014

Having visited Skeet Cottage some years ago we dreamed of returning and here we are. Fantastic stay in the best equipped and coziest cottage we have ever stayed in. Saturday evening playing board games beside the wood fire was the best. Excellent weather so maybe we enjoyed the first barbecue of the year. We leave with great reluctance but hope to be back next year. Thank you and so good to talk with you and hear the history of the building.

Topham & Day Families - 02/05/2014

Thanks for yet another week in your lovely cottage. Hope to return again.

David, Maxine, Thom, Laura, Jack and Sophie. - 01/05/2014

Having tried many properties in Burnham, this is one of our favourites. Such a lovely cozy, homely feel and very well appointed. We’ve had a fantastic week. Breakfast at Creake Abbey is not to be missed. Holkham Hall and beach are beautiful as always. We have made many happy memories this week and will definitely be back. Thank you for the fizz and Easter eggs, much appreciated!

The Horne Family (& Ruby the Labrador) - 18/04/2014

Travelled down from Scotland to catch up with family – cottage was lovely, worth the trip, but unfortunately not long enough! Many thanks.

Susan & family - 17/04/2014

Thank you so much for a wonderful cozy weekend. We had a lovely time and will be back ASAP. Many thanks.

David, Danielle, Harvey & Isaac - 12/04/2014

Another wonderful long weekend staying here in Skeet Cottage. Everything was perfect as usual – even the weather! Already looking forward to “next time”! With thanks and best wishes.

Jackie, Andy, Sandra, Mick and Eric - 28/03/2014

Thank you so much for a lovely weekend at Skeet Cottage. The weather was perfect, we had some great walks along the coast and found a lovely little tea shop in Stiffkey. We all highly recommend The Orange Tree at Thornham – delicious meals! Thanks once again. We hope to see you soon.

Lucy, Seb, James & Lauren - 16/03/2014

Thanks for another fantastic stay at Skeet. The perfect antidote to post-Christmas blues! Very lucky with the weather as well. Champagne and chocs greatly received. We’ll be back in the Autumn.

Louise, Andy, Sean, Kimberley, George & Fran - 12/01/2014

We all wanted to say a big thank you for our lovely New Year at Skeet Cottage. When Jackie said she had found a beautiful cottage on-line, we could never have imagined it would be even better when we walked in! The attention to detail – we LOVE the Christmas decorations – second to none! The cottage has absolutely everything we could have needed, and although weather against us at times (it is Britain after all!), it didn’t spoil our exploration of the beautiful surrounding areas – Holkham, Wells and Brancaster among the favourites, plus the fabulous Burnham market of course – enjoyed the hospitality, spa and cream teas at The Hoste. Also enjoyed the “mince pie express” steam train ride on New Year’s Day! Didn’t get to use the garden much, but hopefully looking forward to a “good weather” stay, to make use of the barbecue!

PS. Loved the Champagne and chocolates too – much appreciated and a lovely touchxx

Burnham Market

Location

A delightful Georgian village which is situated a stones throw away from the glorious North Norfolk coastline and is the largest of the seven Burnham villages. At its centre is a large village green surrounded by striking Queen Anne and Georgian buildings, with two churches that lie at each end of its broad main street.
Unlike many other English towns which are dominated by multiples, Burnham Market has a traditional post office, butcher, hardware shop, fish shop and chemist for all the necessities of everyday life, but there are also over 30 highly original independent and specialist shops, selling a wide range of exciting deli products, vibrant and stylish accessories for home and garden, smart clothes shops, and books old and new. There are some great places to eat, including the renowned Hoste Arms which is a 17th Century old coaching house, the stylish No Twenty 9 bar and restaurant and Socius in Foundry Field. As a result Burnham Market attracts many celebrities and cosmopolitan visitors and is vibrant and bustling in the holiday periods, earning the nickname Chelsea-on-Sea. There is an annual August craft fair and in November the picturesque Christmas lights are turned on, making the village the perfect place to visit for Christmas shopping.
