Had a good week at Rose Cottage the bungalow is very nice, spacious and well equipped. Te week started very wet and windy but did improve as the week went on. The conservatory is a great place to sit, plus very warm. The garden is a lovely area for both dogs Poppy and Pebble. All in all a very enjoyable week.

Not quite the week we had planned or hoped for, sad the family could not of joined us due to Covid restrictions. We made the best if it and had a great time, we were blessed with great weather for most of our stay. We would recommend (both very Covid safe) The Jolly Sailors at Brancaster and The Ancient Mariner at Old Hunstanton. Also a great 5k circular run from the door and up round the common, bit of a hill but then a nice downhill. :) Many Thanks

Wonderful week in Norfolk, summers last hurrah with temperatures in the upper 20 degrees C. Cottage was really nice, we have really enjoyed our stay. Loved the conservatory and garden as did our little dog! Many Thanks.

Wonderful family time together in a lovely cottage. Plenty of space for everyone and kitchen really well equipped. The summerhouse was a bonus too and the extra fridge! Although the weather was wet at first and gradually got better, we enjoyed 1 and a half days on Brancaster beach. Went on a seal trip and spent a morning crabbing in Wells. The take away fish and chips at The Jolly Sailors was great. All shops/pubs had good Covid precautions in place. Very impressed with Holkham Hall, plenty of space.

Brancaster Staithe
Location
A bustling village with an attractive harbour which is just to the east of Brancaster (staithe means wharf, or landing stage). There is a well-supported sailing club here and in the summer at high tide there is always a crowd of people and boats jostling to get onto the water. The sea still gives a living to many in the area though and Brancaster Staithe is famed for its mussels, which may be bought locally at The Fish Shed along the coast road.
Just off the coast of Brancaster Staithe, Scolt Head Island is a four mile long sand bar housing a National Nature Reserve well-known for terns, oystercatchers, and ringed plovers. You can take a boat trip with Branta Cruises to visit the island.
The village is a picturesque one, with typical flint walling on many cottages, and popular with second home owners and holiday makers. There is good beer and food available throughout the day at the Jolly Sailor's pub, or for more of a treat with stunning views and delicious food there is The White Horse overlooking the marshes which has just been voted the county's eatery for 2018 in the National Pub and Bar awards.
Next to Brancaster Staithe is Burnham Deepdale which has a Norman church, a visitors centre and a good selection of shops, including a small supermarket, Fat Face and Gone Crabbing. After a brisk walk on the beach or an invigorating sail there's nothing better than a trip to the ever popular Deepdale Café, renowned for its hearty English breakfasts.
