Beach

A sought-after coastal holiday destination with unspoilt golden sandy beaches. The sand dunes, beach huts and pine trees separate the village from the dog friendly beach. The quieter Old Hunstanton is situated only a mile from Hunstanton town, with the beautiful stripy cliffs standing between the two sandy beaches.

Village

Home to the highly regarded links course of Hunstanton Golf Club which has an excellent 18-hole course. The village also boasts a range of great places to eat including the Michelin starred Neptune, The Lodge Hotel and Le Strange Arms. There's a well-stocked village shop and post office too.

History

The village of Old Hunstanton was named in the Domesday book at ‘Hunestanestada’, it later became part of the Le Strange family estates. The parish church of St Mary is situated in the grounds of Hunstanton Hall (Grade 1 listed) home to the Le Strange family for centuries.

Visit

A great area for walkers and cyclists, close to the Peddars Way footpath as well as the National Cycle Route and the neighbouring Hunstanton town and the quiet villages of Holme-next-the-Sea and Ringstead. Just a short drive away is the royal residence of Sandringham Estate. Further along the North Norfolk Coastal Path the pretty villages of Thornham and Brancaster can be found, with many nature reserves along the way including RSPB Titchwell. The pretty Georgian village of Burnham Market with a range of independent shops surrounding the leafy village green is also a popular destination.

The Walter's, 29th of October 2020

You can tell from the pictures of this house that is of a very high standard and it doesn't disappoint. A great base for a break. If you don't know the area, Old Hunstanton is the nicer area of Hunstanton with more traditional buildings and a quiet north norfolk vibe to it. Extra highlights/points to share: - beautiful upstairs lounge with big windows and views of the sea. - balcony to sit out and catch the evening sun - Board games for wet days - Football table game in the den - games room/tv room in large 'den' at the bottom of the garden. - big trampoline in the garden - BT Digital TV which you can access Netflix and Sky channels from - 2 x bunk beds for the kids - 5 mins walk to little park, pub and deli - 5 mins walk to lovely Old Hunstanton beach Would recommmend and would holiday here again.

Such an outstanding property. We went as 4 adults and a dog to spend time as a family making precious memories. This property did not disappoint. We felt like we were lottery winners. Such an amazing location , house and garden. What made it even more special was the caring nature of the owner mark who went out of his way to make this precious family time happen for us twice. Thank you mark. The beach is 5 minutes walk and has plenty of room for all. It's dog friendly too any time of the year. The garden is a dream of a space. And as adults we enjoyed the zen den for watching movies, felt like we were at the cinema only more comfortable. I was able at night to star gaze with my telescope and saw Venus and her moons. We saw and heard owls and bats. Magical. The house is so comfortable for all and plenty of room so you can have your own space. The beds were nice and cosy too. There was not one thing we wanted for. Every local we passed said hello. Such a beautiful place all round. In time we will return to this property and our memories .

The Browns, 24th of June 2016

We stayed at Ongar Lodge for a long weekend in November and we had a great time. The property had everything you could ask for and was a great location for the beach. The facilities were fantastic and is perfect for two families.Would definitely recommend.

This house was better than the pictures suggest even though they were lovely! The location is perfect,, close to two excellent pubs and within 5 minutes of the dunes, if that. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen easily large enough for two families of four to eat and the den super for the kids to do their thing. Would return in a heartbeat.
