Village

Possibly one of the prettiest villages in North Norfolk, this Georgian village is within easy access to the North Norfolk Coast, still with a quaint feel, with many trendy shops. The village retains a ‘step back in time’ feel with leafy green trees and picturesque village green. Burnham Market has a traditional post office, book shop and hardware shop as well as beautiful boutiques and lifestyle shops, from the butchers and baker to fine dining and deli’s. There’s a superb fishmonger Gurneys with locally caught seafood including Brancaster mussels and Cromer crab - be sure to try the amazing fresh fishcakes. It’s a lovely village to visit to peruse the shops or even for a bite to eat in one of the restaurants. There are a lot of eateries to choose from… The Hoste for fine dining or afternoon tea, No Twenty9, The Nelson, award-winning Socius, Burnham Tearoom, or Tilly’s Cafe, there’s something to suit every taste. There is also a children’s play park, hard tennis courts and two parish churches one at each end of the village. If in need of a little pampering why not book a treatment or two at The Hoste Beauty Spa.There is also a dog groomer so you can have the best pampered pooch in the village.

Visit

With a scenic ride to the coast, you can enjoy lazy days on the beaches of Brancaster or Wells. Alternatively pull on your walking boots and investigate diverse coastal path walks, taking in all the birds and wildlife. Leave the car behind and pop on the Coastal Hopper bus and do a tour from Wells and The Burnhams to Norfolk's west coast. Don't forget to visit Holkham which not only has a superb beach, but majestic Holkham Hall which is well worth a visit: hire a boat on the lake, hop on a bike to explore the woodlands, test your bravery on the rope course, play in the woodland play park, take in the breathtaking rooms and art in the main house or simply enjoy tea and cake in the courtyard cafe. If big houses are your thing there are many others to visit with Houghton Hall and its fantastic sculpture collection, the house and grounds of Royal Sandringham to name a few! Get on the water, there are many activities from kite and windsurfing in Hunstanton, sailing in Brancaster Staithe, seal and boat trips from Brancaster and Wells, or take a beautiful trip on The Coastal Exploration Company and learn about the wildlife, trading and smuggling in the salt marshes or along the coast.

Excellent value for money for a large family group. Grandchildren enjoyed playing on the large lawn. Good to be within walking distance of shops and restaurants.

The Peter's, 19th of March 2024

We had a lovely time this weekend. The house was in a great location- close to the beach and shops. Lovely views from all the windows, and so spacious inside with great living space Kitchen was very well equipped and very comfortable beds Perfect for a big family Great local beaches and pubs.

The Dacey's, 11th of January 2024

Lovely cottage, with plenty of facilities and extras, especially in the kitchen. We had a great time, with lovely weather meaning we could sit outside in the early evening and watch a couple of young muntjac deer enjoying themselves in the field and lots of birds, while having pre-dinner drinkies! As above plus a nice circular walk from the cottage front door around the Burnhams. Creake Abbey was also lovely and being able to walk into Burnham Market was good too.

The Little's, 26th of October 2023

Pleasant house. Spacious, warm, comfortable, well-equipped, plenty of parking space. Clean and convenient
Good beds, excellent showers. Endless hot water. Spacious outside areas with view.

The Wright's, 9th of January 2023

The Veitch Family, 23rd of July 2021

At Nelson Lodge the new flooring, bbq and shower. Small downstairs bedroom improved since previous stay. Also the sun room is much improved with additional furniture It has a homely ideal for family get together!

The Toll Family, 9th of July 2021

Always great! Love the new furniture. in conservatory! Relaxed as always. Also much better kitchen equipment for cooking and eating which is better for larger groups who enjoy cooking and eating together! - thanks for still renting it to the punters despite your ever growing family!

The Taylor family, 2nd of July 2021

It felt like a home, you were able to relax and use it like your own home. The conservatory is fantastic, especially as there is a big table in there. The tables outside were also very good as we could all eat in the garden together.

The Champness Family, 28th of May 2021

Nelson Lodge is great for it's homeliness, good size rooms, huge table, big fires, well equipped kitchen...and the house seems to be very loved and not too precious which was great for us. This is a truly wonderful home and we just love staying here! Thank you.

The Finney's, 18th of November 2019

Having been there before it was as if we were coming home. We find Nelson Lodge very relaxing & will be back. It is the sort of house that we can come back to after a day on the boats & will have sand & wet clothes to deal with. The conservatory is thus a blessing.

The Watts, 23rd of August 2019

Large open living space and garden great as we had a multi generational party.
Also the fact there was a downstairs bedroom and bathroom for elderly parents.
Great house for a weekend family gathering with amazing parking for a multitude of cars and bikes.

Yell Party, 4th of May 2018

Fantastic house - we intend to return!
We loved the space.
