Beach

Brancaster has a beautiful far reaching golden sandy beach, ideal all year-round destination. Brilliant for sunny beach days with all the family, dogs too! There is a handy kiosk shop for refreshments and all-important beach games, kites and bucket and spades and a convenient large car-park just 50m from the beach. Brancaster Golf club is also beachside, if you walk left from the golf club there is an inlet where you can often see a seal or two basking in the sunshine. Be careful to check the tide tables for access to the beach as the beach road can get flooded at high tide.

History

A petrified forest can be seen at low tide (west of the golf club) remains of vegetation that looks a bit like black rubber.  You may also spot an old shipwreck on the beach, the remains of SS Vina which was used by the RAF for target practice before the Normandy landing.

To the east of the village is the grass covered mounds of the National Trust Branodunum Roman settlement, which is an old Saxon Shore fort, first used to protect shipping and trade on the coast

Brancaster is conveniently located along the Coastliner bus route, and has a small village shop selling grocery basics and newspapers.

Guest reviews

We had a lovely short holiday in Brancaster staying at this wonderful cottage. A peaceful location in walking distance from Brancaster beach, the cottage was immaculate and has everything you need for a relaxing family break. Walking to Brancaster beach, a day out in Wells and a fabulous dinner at The Jolly Sailors pub.

The Mather's, 6th of November 2023

Well presented house with everything you might need . Garden really is safe for dogs and lovely sun trap. Long beach walks with the dog on Brancaster beach and in the forest at Sandringham . Also good food in local pubs.

The Edward's, 5th of October 2023

This was our first visit to North Norfolk and we absolutely loved it. Little Twitchers is a lovely well appointed and well equipped house. The closeness to the beach, the easy access to the other villages nearby and the lovely places to eat locally.

The Matthew's, 7th of August 2023

A lovely comfortable property within easy walk to beautiful Brancaster beach. Sunshine everyday !

The North's, 14th of July 2023

Fantastic cottage, the best we have stayed in in 10 years. Beautiful decor, really welcoming and cosy. We looked forward to coming home at the end of the day. Extremely well equipped! It had everything and more! The garden was great! The seating area, flowers, lights. Having 2 bathrooms was also very handy. The cottage also smelt lovely and was very clean.

The Arrowsmith's, 29th of June 2023

My family and I were SO excited to return to Little Twitchers. The home is wonderful, perfect location, all the amenities and things you need for a 'home away from home' holiday! Sowerby's are kind and clear to work with to ensure that the booking and duration of the holiday is seamless and easy. Little Twitchers is a highlight in itself; we love the little home, the log fire, the garden, the brand new kitchen and most importantly its location to the beach. We love it!

The Adcock's, 19th of April 2023

A beautifully decorated and cosy cottage, with everything you need to have an enjoyable stay in Brancaster. The cottage is exactly as detailed in the pictures, with a well supplied kitchen (pots/pans etc) enabling you to cook at home as well as plenty of space for al fresco dining too. The location is fantastic, a short walk to Brancaster beach and a short drive to the other towns along the coast.

The Cowley's, 7th of April 2023

Sarah and Rob, I’m really sorry we didn’t get the opportunity to write in the book itself. Beautiful beach walks.. always the highlight! Thank you so much for a wonderful cottage - we had a brilliant time and loved our stay. Thank you.

The Goodfellow Family, 21st of October 2022

Little Twitchers Brancaster was the perfect location for some R&R! From arriving to a fantastic welcome hamper, which was bespoke for one of our birthdays and included cake and a balloon. The property was furnished to the highest standard even down to the detail of the local suppliers being used for the hand wash/cream - which smelt Devine!! The bedrooms were a great size and very comfortable and evenings in front of the fire or under the festoon lights in the garden were perfect! We enjoyed an early morning walk to the beach to watch the sunrise (albeit cut short by the high tide!); Enjoying the local restaurants including the white horse and the ship hotel; Attending the 1 x Michelin star restaurant, the Neptune in old Hunstanton; Enjoying the October sun with a 2 hour plus walk along the beach; Visits to local towns, including Holt; Having the dog with us it was also great to be assured that there was a secure garden for him which he enjoyed.

The Wrigglesworth , 10th of October 2022

Stephanie , 19th of August 2022

What we liked most about the property was the attention to detail. It’s not a large property but we felt the owners had taken a lot of care over the renovation and making the house comfortable

Electric Vehicle charging

Cars may only be charged if there is an EV charging point fitted at the property. The cost of electricity is NOT included in the rental price and Sowerbys Holiday Cottages must be notified if the charger is used and an additional surcharge will be made.
