Floorplan

Beach

A sought-after coastal holiday destination with unspoilt golden sandy beaches. The sand dunes, beach huts and pine trees separate the village from the dog friendly beach. The quieter Old Hunstanton is situated only a mile from Hunstanton town, with the beautiful stripy cliffs standing between the two sandy beaches.

Village

Home to the highly regarded links course of Hunstanton Golf Club which has an excellent 18-hole course. The village also boasts a range of great places to eat including the Michelin starred Neptune, The Lodge Hotel and Le Strange Arms. There's a well-stocked village shop and post office too.

History

The village of Old Hunstanton was named in the Domesday book at ‘Hunestanestada’, it later became part of the Le Strange family estates. The parish church of St Mary is situated in the grounds of Hunstanton Hall (Grade 1 listed) home to the Le Strange family for centuries.

Visit

A great area for walkers and cyclists, close to the Peddars Way footpath as well as the National Cycle Route and the neighbouring Hunstanton town and the quiet villages of Holme-next-the-Sea and Ringstead. Just a short drive away is the royal residence of Sandringham Estate. Further along the North Norfolk Coastal Path the pretty villages of Thornham and Brancaster can be found, with many nature reserves along the way including RSPB Titchwell. The pretty Georgian village of Burnham Market with a range of independent shops surrounding the leafy village green is also a popular destination.

The Jackson's, 16th of October 2023

The cottage is ideal for walking on the beach at Old Hunstanton and into Hunstanton.

The D'arcy's, 16th of October 2023

Dolphin Cottage is such a lovely cottage. It was very clean and well looked after and we found it to be very comfortable. The decorations and soft furnishings complemented the cottage, as did the garden which was perfect. We choose to stay in Old Hunstanton because it is so near the wonderful beach and once again, after a wet start to our holiday, the weather did not disappoint us. Please pass on our thanks to the owners. Staying in Dolphin Cottage was definitely a highlight in itself. The area is so peaceful and it is easy to get around.
The amazing sunsets! Sunday lunch at the Lodge Hotel We will definitely return. Thank you!

The Hatton's, 6th of September 2023

What an amazing little house....perfect in every way. Excellently maintained and very clean and tidy with everything you need for a stay at the seaside. Positioned perfectly in Old Hunstanton. By day 3 of our stay we booked again for next year. From turning the key when we arrived to (sadly) locking up to leave - the whole week was perfect

The Pearson's, 14th of July 2023

We had a perfect stay in Dolphin Cottage. Hats off to the housekeeper, it was very clean. A real home from home with every comfort. The gardens are perfect for our dogs and us too. We love it so much we’ve booked next year. The peace and tranquillity. The position of the cottage , just a short walk to the wonderful beach and Old Town Beach Cafe. Lots of beautiful places to visit without travelling too far. Biggest plus is it’s so dog friendly. All in all just perfect.

The Bennett's, 13th of July 2023

Beach cafe ideal for breakfast. Weather was brilliant too. Could not ask for more. Will be booking again for next June. The early morning walks with the dog, either along the beach or dunes.

As per previous visit, lovely place to stay and immaculate.

The Davies's, 22nd of June 2023

Our second time to this lovely cottage. Again it was spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. There was everything we needed inside and out ( sadly weather not good enough to use garden) . Furniture all lovely and comfortable. Good details in book about cottage appliances etc. The location of Dolphin is brilliant, with a lovely pub and a shop just over the road. Close to beach and bus stop just outside gate. Buses excellent running every hour if you don’t want to use car. Nature reserves with coastal walk all close by and cosy cottage to come back too to relax !

The Denton's, 19th of June 2023

Had a great stay. House was in a perfect location, fairly priced, it was nice and clean and it had everything we needed for the week. Parking was also fine as a space was always available The weather was also kind with nice sunny days. What more can you ask for?

The Dawson's, 5th of May 2023

The cottage was lovely, very clean and well equipped. Main bedroom was extremely spacious. Parking was very convenient for the cottage and the location was excellent with a short walk down Sea Lane to the beach and to the beach cafe, which was also very good and where we ate on several days.
Walking to Holme and back round the golf course. Beach cafe food. New bookshop in Hunstanton. Visit to wildlife reserve.

The Payne's, 18th of April 2023

We've been to Dolphin Cottage a number of times, it was as always in great condition, very comfortable. It's ideally located for beaches, pub's, cafés. The area is brilliant, we love the sense of space you get when you are out. We are dog owners and most of the pubs, restaurants are dog friendly which is essential for us.

The Hammersley's, 28th of March 2023

Cottage is cosy and so convenient for beach walks and pubs. It was perfect.

The Cayley's, 1st of March 2023

Great location, a few minutes from the beach and a stones throw from pubs and restaurants, absolutely spotlessly clean, warm and well equipped. Enjoyed it so much we are about to book again for later in the year. Highlights beach walking, wonderful sunsets.

The Kaye's, 17th of October 2022

Lovely cottage and perfect location. Highlights of our stay was Walking on the beach at Old Hunstanton and hot chocolate at the cafe.

The D'Arcy's, 14th of October 2022

Lovely cottage. Very well appointed in Old Hunstanton village . Only a few minutes from beach. So quiet and peaceful. The local bus service ( right outside the door) ran every hour to Wells or kings lynn . Several places to eat. The cafe on the beach for snacks or breakfast and a few nice ( but pricey) places for evening meals. We were happy to enjoy the Norfolk coast, then chill out in dolphin cottage for evening meal and relax.
