The beach is an amazing pebbly beach which is dog friendly. ideal for morning walks to take in the sights and sounds of the pebbles washing to the shore. With deep water on the shoreline Salthouse is popular for sea fishing with sea bass, cod, mackerel and flat fish you can be sure to have a good catch. The marshes that flank the beach are teeming with wildlife and birds like marsh harriers and barn owls. Birdwatchers come from all over to observe both common and rare species.

The historic coastal village of Salthouse nestles between a high ridge above and the salt marsh towards the North Norfolk Coast. The village is a lovely quiet spot to enjoy the views over the marshes, walking on Salthouse heath there are many look out spots to take in the views. History

In times gone by there would have been salt pans and large piles of salt crystals ready for transport. The name is simple ‘House for the storing of salt’. Evidence of settlements in the village have been found from the Bronze Age and the Romans.

It’s a Beautiful place we had a lovely stay , marvellous views and so handy for the beach for our dogs , great beach not too much sand so dogs didn’t come back too sandy but the hot and cold tap outside the utility room was brilliant, just hosed them down at a nice warm temperature and dried them in the utility room , want one of those at my home. I loved the layout of the place plenty of privacy for 6 of us and very comfortable property with everything you would need like in your own home, very safe for dogs in the back garden and gates closed when home just incase they run outside . The Anchorage was so handy for everywhere , we went to Burnham Market , Wells next the Sea , Holkham and of course Holt which has great shopping and The Wiveton Bell was wonderful , all Restaurants very near . Would love to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful Hamper my Grandchildren loved most of it. Loved sitting upstairs looking out at the Beautiful View and having a lovely time with family and pets in a very unique comfortable home. Salthouse is lovely though great pub , shop and even the wildlife , Swans , ducks on the pond loved it.

Lovely property with views across the salt marsh. Salthouse stores have most items you need and reasonably priced. Holt, Cley and Kelling are nearby and worth exploring. Cley marshes visitor centre is a must; the cafe has good food and the reserve caters for nature lovers. The Coast hopper bus runs past Anchorage and is worth using for car free travel; very good value and frequent. Lovely, spacious property with views over the salt marshes…as avid birdwatchers, this was a complete bonus! Spotted Curlew on the marshes whilst drinking tea and eating cake in the living room! Perfect!! The doggy shower was fabulous and such a joy for the dogs to have warm showers after being on the beach…we loved it so much, we are now having one put in at home!

The Whitefoot's, 29th of March 2023

We love it. Ideally positioned for access to towns, villages, the sea and the local shop with EPIC coffee and lovely service. The proximity of the property to the sea, the great views, ability to have the dog with us. We love the way the property is appointed, everything is easy and thought through. The larger number of rooms suits us as we have a larger family.
