Pear Tree Cottage is a quintessential three-storey Norfolk coastal cottage, providing delightful holiday accommodation for two, with a charming sitting room, well-equipped kitchen and a generously sized bedroom (whilst there are two bedrooms the one on the first floor is only available for use). It is ideally located close to the coast with the advantage of having a wonderful large enclosed garden with many fruit trees, as well as a courtyard dining area immediately outside the back door. Only a short walk to The White Horse local pub, and ten minutes walk along footpaths to reach the lovely sandy beach at Holme and the nearby Norfolk Wildlife Trust Reserve.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Great location within walking distance to coast and pub
  • The attractive large enclosed "orchard" garden
  • Both bedrooms are well-presented and spacious

GOOD TO KNOW

  • Access to the orchard garden is via a pathway - not directly from back door
  • The bedrooms are on different floors
  • Although there's no designated parking it's usually possible to park outside
  • As Pear Tree Cottage is a character cottage the stairs are steeper than usual with narrower treads.

Ground Floor

Sitting Room: Beautifully presented with a comfy sofa and two armchairs, a wood-burning stove, Smart TV, DVD, CD player and Bluetooth speaker. This room leads through into the kitchen.
Please note that a full basket of logs will be provided for your initial fire and more can be purchased from the immediate neighbour if required.

Kitchen: Well-equipped with a Belfast sink, granite work-tops, integrated dish-washer, larder fridge, microwave, electric oven and a table with seating for four. There is a door to the staircase.

First Floor

The stairs are not too steep and there is a handrail.

Bedroom 1: Lovely spacious room with a double bed, bedside tables and lamps, wardrobe, dressing table, hairdryer, chair and a freeview TV/DVD.

Bathroom: recently updated and contains a bath with power shower over, hand basin, WC, heated towel rail.

Utility cupboard: on the landing with a washing machine and the hot water tank.

From the landing there is another door to the staircase to the second floor.

Note; There is a travel cot and a high chair available if required (these are stored under the beds).
The duvets are natural with feather/down fillings. There are some feather pillows and some synthetic.
As Pear Tree Cottage is a character cottage the stairs are steeper than usual with narrower treads.

Outside

Although there is no dedicated off-street parking, it is usually possible to park directly outside the cottage. Access is via a shingled pathway to the back of the cottage.

Immediately outside the back door is an enclosed courtyard area with table and chairs. A short walk across the pathway is a fabulous large enclosed orchard garden with garden furniture (approx. quarter of an acre).

Small dogs are welcome to stay at Pear Tree Cottage.

Floorplan

Beach

A pretty village which is a hidden gem located on the North Norfolk Heritage Coast. Holme has an expansive flat sandy beach, ideal for beach games and sand castles during low tide.

In Autumn Holme Dunes is a great area to spot migrating birds from the NWT Nature reserve with a number of hides and trails.

Village

Holme is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is also where the 50-mile Roman Peddars Way walking route meets the North Norfolk Coastal Path. The village is also on the coastal hopper bus route for those of you that wish to travel the coast line. In the centre of the village is the traditional White Horse pub which has a splendid garden with play area to enjoy a bite to eat on a fine day.

History

As well as various military remains from the Second World War that can be glimpsed from the Nature Reserve, the beach is famous for the 1998 discovery of a hidden Bronze Age timber circle known as ‘Sea Henge’. Now on view at Kings Lynn Museum.

Visit

Old Hunstanton is the neighbouring village and the Golf club course boarders onto Holme. Old Hunstanton has some great eateries, lighthouse and fabulous walks along the unspoilt beaches. Hunstanton has its iconic striped cliffs, many amusements, Sea-life centre, leisure pool and traditional promenade. There is also a horse riding stables close by too!

Lovely cottage. Cosy, comfortable, clean. Kitchen had everything you needed. Woodburner is super efficient, we had to open the cottage door at one stage !!! Brilliant location, lots of different beaches and places to eat out. Would definitely book to stay again and would recommend it to all. Different day - different beach with the dog.
So many places with delicious food and the local fresh fish was amazing.

Peartree Cottage was as lovely as ever! We had a very enjoyable week despite the weather which rather put paid to visiting many places! However it’s a lovely cosy cottage to stay in and read!

The Bates, 3rd of April 2023

The property and contents were to a very high standard. Woodburning stove created a really cosy feel to the cottage, and was very welcome after a walk in the wind and rain. Thank you for all the useful information about the cottage prior to our visit - it really helped us to know what to bring.

All Sowerbys holiday cottages are supplied with bed linen and towels and the cost of heating is included in the rental price.

Electric Vehicle charging

Cars may only be charged if there is an EV charging point fitted at the property. The cost of electricity is NOT included in the rental price and Sowerbys Holiday Cottages must be notified if the charger is used and an additional surcharge will be made. Due to insurance purposes, guests must never charge their car using a standard outdoor plug or an extension cable linking to a domestic plug.
