Beaches

Great for families and on the Norfolk coastal path with two great beaches on the West coast overlooking The Wash: North beach and South beach (aka Stubborn Sands) are both dog friendly and form a huge 20 mile bay and enjoy the most dramatic sunsets. A perfect spot to watch the sun going down and hit the sea on a fine evening. The village enjoys a range of small shops, arcade, cafe and fish bar. There are three local pubs The West Norfolk, Fox and Hounds and Bushel and Strike.

Village

Famous for its Norfolk Lavender with aromatic gardens and fields filled with all varieties of lavender. With their own oil distillery, products, tearoom and animal garden and play park. Just next door is Farmer Freds Adventure Play Barn for children and parents to enjoy indoor play farm themed fun, as well as a great Farm Shop selling lovely local produce.

If keeping mind and body in check is your cup of tea, then a visit to Heacham Manor where you can dine, spa or book a round of golf on the lake side championship 18-hole course.

History

Famed for association with Pocahontas, the Rolfe family are the most famous inhabitants of Heacham, from the 16th century. After seeking adventure in The New World it was John Rolfe who married the Native American Rebecca (Pocahontas), and along with their 2 year old son took them back to his family home the former Heacham Hall. The image of Pocahontas adorns the village sign and also the St Mary's the Virgin Church.

Visit

For a great family day out and only a few miles away is Snettisham Park Farm. A working Farm with lovely activities for the family from egg collecting, bottle feeding lambs and pony rides to a ‘not to be missed’ deer Safari.

There are plenty of wildlife spectacles to explore, with tens of thousands of wading birds to observe from the hides at Snettisham Nature Reserve.

Hunstanton Town is just 3 miles from Heacham and is a traditional seaside town with the added addition of fun water sports such as kite surfing and windsurfing.

A visit to Sandringham House, gardens and country park is a popular destination for all. Whether you simply want to take the pooch for a stroll, or discover the royals much loved country retreat, you’ll have the grandest of days.

Guest reviews

Neptune is a lovely, warm clean cabin which is close to the beach. It is situated in a very peaceful location with little passing traffic.
The cabin catches both the morning and evening sun. The balcony at the back catches the morning sun right from sunrise and the front of the cabin captures the evening sun. The ducks on the river at the back are always ready to be fed😁.

The Edwards, 4th of August 2023

We really enjoyed our stay at Neptune. It had everything we needed and we loved being so close to the beach and having the raised deck at the back overlooking the river. As the weather was so hot it was great to sit in the shade on the deck in the evening watching all the different birds. The location made it a very relaxing laid back break.
Waking up to all the wildlife seen from the back of Neptune, such as hares, heron, linnets, marsh harrier and muntjac deer.
