Flat 5 is a recently redecorated, well-presented 2 bedroomed apartment on the top floor of Monteagle, a prominent Grade II listed house (which has been divided into 6 apartments) with lovely views over The Buttlands, Wells' village green.  It is in a fantastic location in the heart of Wells, within a short walk of all of its amenities and the quay, and only a few steps from The Crown and The Globe, two of Wells' best places to eat and drink.

Communal entrance hall and then up the wide main staircase (not steep)  to the second floor (top floor) apartment.

The apartment was re-decorated throughout in 2011 and has an open plan sitting, dining and kitchen area, 2 bedrooms and a newly fitted bathroom.

Sitting/Dining Room: Spacious room with original stripped floorboards, sloped ceiling, an ornamental fireplace, 2 sofas, flatscreen freeview digital TV & DVD. There are 2 chairs by the window where you can sit and enjoy the view across The Buttlands - perfect for watching the world go by! There's a round dining table with 4 chairs.

Kitchen: Newly fitted cream kitchen and well-equipped with an electric fan-assisted oven and hob, fridge with freezer compartment, washing machine and microwave.

Bedroom 1: Lovely views overlooking The Buttlands with double bed, bedside tables and lamps, chest of drawers.

Bedroom 2: Twin beds, bedside tables and lamps, wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is a pull-out bed stored underneath the single beds, so if necessary 3 children may sleep in this room.

Bathroom: Spacious room at the back of the property with roof top views across Wells and towards the church. Newly fitted bath with shower over, hand basin and WC.

Outside

Although there is no designated off-street parking, there are no parking restrictions on The Buttlands and it is usually possible to park outside. It is just a few steps to the renowned Crown Hotel and also The Globe Inn. This is a fantastic location right in the heart of Wells within walking distance of numerous shops and the quay.

Wells-next-the-Sea

Location

A delightful unspoilt historic town on the North Norfolk Coast with a jumble of old buildings and lanes still existing from its heritage as a port and former maltings industry. The picturesque quay and waterfront is still very much a working port with fishing boats still berthed in this small harbour and stalls selling locally caught shrimps, crabs and whelks. A popular place with sailors with many sailing and leisure craft here and local sailing tuition available. Children enjoy the facilities round the quay and the challenge of crabbing (gillying) from the steep harbour wall.

The main shopping area of Wells is Staithe Street, a narrow, mostly pedestrianised lane with surviving Victorian and Edwardian shop fronts, that runs from the water’s edge right up to the top part of town. In the centre of the town is The Buttlands which is a large rectangular green lined with Georgian and late Victorian houses, which used to be used for archery practise in medieval days. Now it is home to the excellent Crown hotel and restaurant which is run by Kiwi celebrity chef Chris Coubrough, as well as The Globe Inn owned by the Holkham estate.

The sandy beach flanked by pine forest is about a mile from the quay and can be reached by road, on foot along the causeway or via the miniature railway.

Holkham Hall with its impressive 18th century Palladian architecture and 3,000 acre deer park is only a couple of miles away along the coast road.
